autoproxyswitcher's Issues

Identify network by name

I regularly connect to two different Wifi networks, both of which use the
standard 192.168.1.1 router address, but I need different proxies for them. I'd
like to identify them by the name they broadcast

Ability to disable automatic informational popups

Describe the feature:

It would be nice to be able to set a config flag so that the bubbles to say the
current active profile has changed, or when the program starts and displays the
active profile, are not shown to the user.

They would still be accessible from the system tray by clicking the icon for
debugging purposes, but for some of the novice users (Using this for staff
within a secondary school in the UK) this can be distracting to them and they
wouldn't even understand what they were being told.

Failing to detect LAN is disconnected

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Docked HP laptop. If I disconnect the network cable from the laptop base
autoproxy detects the change and then says it can still see the LAN IP address
range.
2.If I then enable wireless, autoproxy sees the wireless enabled but claims it
can still see the LAN IP address rangeand therefore tries to use a proxy not
there. IPCONFIG /ALL shows only the Wireless IP range
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Auto switch between lan and wireless

What version of the product are you using?
AutoProxySwitcher_1.0.15.0.msi

What operating system are you using ? Windows 7 64bit enterprise

1. Modify rules.xml to add one custom rule
2. Open Autoproxyswitcher
3. check the different options available, only the "Netowrk Names" from the

Use default configuration until ping complete

Just discovered this program about a week ago, I'm finding it really useful so
far. Here's something I wish it did:

Describe the feature:
My configuration is set to ping the proxy server in my workplace and if it
exists then connect to it. This works really well.

The problem arises when I get home: It takes quite a long time to switch the
proxy settings off again. I believe this is because APS has a relatively high
timeout value and maybe even makes multiple attempts to ping if the first is
unsuccessful.

I would like APS to switch to my default profile before starting the ping, and
then switch to the proxy profile iff the ping is successful. Current behaviour
is (I believe) dependant on which setting was enabled previously, which doesn't
suit me as I alternate connections.

request MAC recognition

ability to recognise a network by the MAC address of an IP.

i.e.
I have a locked down network. It has the same net/subnet as other networks i
use. The only 2 ways i can tell them apart are the MAC of the proxy server or
if traffic moves with/without proxy settings.

Wrong netmask prefix calculation?

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Use subnet mask 255.255.252.0.
2. Configure rules.xml to use PAC file with specified subnet IP:
...
 <Network name="At work">
    <Proxy type="PacFile" url="http://link.to.pac" />
    <Rules>
      <Subnet ip="23.98.176.0/22" />
    </Rules>
  </Network>
...

3. Start Autoproxyswitcher

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Match proxy configuration and use PAC file according to Subnet IP with mask.
Autoproxyswitcher doesn't detect it but uses default conf. In log I see wrong
subnet prefix - 23 instead of 22:
2013-06-11 11:15:38,534 [1] INFO  AutoProxySwitcherLib.NetworkChangeDetector
[(null)] - Checking network: Local Area Connection (IP: 23.98.176.0/23, DNS:

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

VPN support

When working from home I use a VPN tunnel to connect to the corporate network.
When I connect using the corporate VPN software, autoproxyswitcher detects
network changes (I can see the autoproxyswitcher balloons) but is doesn't
detect the change to the VPN.

Anyway what i would like to happen is:
1) When connected at home and no VPN use "no proxy" setting,
2) When connected at home and using VPN, use corporate proxy settings
3) When disconnecting from VPN use the "no proxy" setting again.

How can this be accomplished ?

Proxy switch based on ping or accessing web page

Hello.

I would like to ask you if it's possible to add the rules section based on ping
of server. For example:

  <Rules>
      <Ping ip="8.8.8.8" />
  </Rules>

-> If the server is (not) accessible "pingable" it will chose the particular
proxy profile.

I'm using the virtual machine running on my laptop and it always has the same
DNS/IP/Subnet given by my laptop - which is acting like DNS/DHCP server. It
doesn't matter if I'm at home/work it's still the same.

-> But I can ping the different server at work and different at home - which
can help me to determine where the laptop is located.

Thank you

PetrR

Run as a service?

Hi,

Is there any chance that this application can run as a service for all users?
It would be really handy as at the moment I need to put a link to the the
software into the startup of every user.

Switching from PAC to standard proxy doesn't clear PAC URL (only disables it)

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Setup a rule where PAC file is used.
2. Setup another rule where standard proxy is used.
3. Switch networks such as the 2nd rule takes place over the first (standard
proxy instead of PAC file).

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected: The current PAC configuration should be disabled and the PAC URL
should be cleared (buggy software sometimes use this configuration despite
being disabled).
Current behavior: The PAC configuration is just disabled and the configured
value is not cleared.

What version of the product are you using?
1.0.0.40672

What operating system are you using ?
Windows 7 Professional x64

Please provide any additional information below.
Please clear the PAC URL field when switching to standard proxy.

Set a config to change the values on winhttp

The proxy setting are not only on IE or registry.
Some applications (windows update) or services rely on winhttp
you can see the setting on cmd.exe
netsh winhttp show proxy

If you want to copy the proxy setting to this you can use the command:
Netsh winhttp import proxy source=ie

I used this command manually and it worked fine.

Trouble detecting network

Hi,

I stumbled on this autoproxyswitcher on Friday after trying a heap of others,
this is exactly what I need.

I am having trouble trying to get the autoproxy switcher to detect any subnets
and therefore I always get the default proxy. I know my entries are ok as I can
manually select any of them and they work. However, if I specify a DNS server
in my config file it automatically detects correctly and gives me the proxy I
want, the issue is that we use the same DNS servers on each network.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
When the app starts I always get the default proxy regardless of IP.
