Tap targets are not sized appropriately

According to a recent Lighthouse audit of the main page, links in the footer are overlapping on smaller screen sizes, affecting mobile friendliness / SEO.

According to a recent Lighthouse audit of the main page, the external links in the footer are unsafe.

See here for more information and how to rectify the situation. A reusable 'external link' function should make this easy to fix.

Use locale-specific date formatting

The 'WhenCreated' value in each article uses a hard-coded formatting. It would be nice to use a locale-specific formatting for these dates.

Background and foreground colors do not have a sufficient contrast ratio

According to a recent Lighthouse audit of the main page, the 'READ' anchor tags on the main page do not have a sufficient contrast ratio.
