verki's Introduction

Ben Wilson, Geek Emeritus

About Ben

Ben Wilson is the author of the Postal Marines science fantasy series and upcoming Strand series. He’s into history, human nature and religious studies. He served in the US Army through his 20s and got to meet some great people there. Now he does routine IT project management for customers who should know better. He pays the bills through their frustration. Ben lives in Northern Virginia with his wife, three of his four children, and two rabid attack cats. No, I did not sell the oldest off to the Core, as much as I might have liked to. He has a family of his own. Learn more

Seinfeld Productivity - Don't Break the Chain

Big one-year wall calendar. Place a Red-X when you complete your objective. Don't break the chain.

Need to add something like the Github progress calendar here.

verki's Issues

Keeping your files

if you stop using the app, you still got your content (not hidden away in a database). Plus you can easily use dropbox, rsync or whatever to sync it. It's a really great app.

Binder with Sortable Scenes (preferred)

As an author, I would like to be able to interactively sort text files so that I can reorganize on the fly

  • Manifest file
  • Sidebar showing files
  • Ability to drag files around
  • Save manifest on change

Project Synchronization for Collaboration

As an author, I want to be able to add files to a synchronized project so that collaboration does not clobber a new file.

We will use UUIDv4 for filename creation. This will result in unique names.

PDF Build

As an author, I would like to output in a PDF format so that I can produce a printed book.

Project Metadata

As an author, I would like to retain project-specific metadata so that I can add it into documents later.

This will be the .verki-project file.

ePUB/Mobi Build

As an author, I would like to publish in an electronic book format (ePUB/Mobi) so that I can make my work available online

Build Templates

As an author, I want to be able to use templates so that I can customize my project's output

This means a template directory.

Revision Management

We will use Git to manage the versions, with snapshots conducted at either file open, close, or customizeable time.

As an author, I would like to keep track of my revisions so that I can show my creative effort and recover from a problem

Text Directory

This means that in a Project there is a directory called "text", which stores the text files for the project.

As an author, I want a text/manuscript section so that I can store my project's text

TODO Function

As author, I want a TODO function so that I can keep tray of my needs.

Project Research Notebook

As an author, I want a project notebook so that I can store reference material that is not compiled into the final work.

This means there is a directory in the project called "docs."
