Compose file for Gitlab Community Edition

Working docker-compose.yml for official gitlab-ce docker images leveraging separate instances for services:

• Uses official postgres docker image
• Uses official redis docker image
• Comes with a gitlab-runner instance

Made to work behind a separate automated nginx-proxy with SSL support via letsencrypt.

Quickstart

• You can quickly start your compose gitlab instance (requires a working automated nginx_proxy compose instance)

git clone [email protected]:mgcrea/docker-compose-gitlab-ce.git gitlab; cd $_
cp .env.default .env; nano .env
make
docker-compose up -d

Check postgres bundled version

source .env
docker run --rm -it gitlab/gitlab-ce:${GITLAB_CE_VERSION} postgres --version

postgresql start fail

logs:

initdb: directory "/var/lib/postgresql/data" exists but is not empty
It contains a dot-prefixed/invisible file, perhaps due to it being a mount point.
Using a mount point directly as the data directory is not recommended.
Create a subdirectory under the mount point.
The files belonging to this database system will be owned by user "postgres".
This user must also own the server process.

The database cluster will be initialized with locale "en_US.utf8".
The default database encoding has accordingly been set to "UTF8".
The default text search configuration will be set to "english".

Data page checksums are disabled.

when i remove volumes/postgres/.gitkeep,it work

Nginx Setup

I'm confused. You link to this guide:
https://docs.gitlab.com/omnibus/settings/nginx.html#using-a-non-bundled-web-server

That guide has this at the top:
nginx['enable'] = false

You do not have that in your gitlab.rb. You also say you use a separate nginx-proxy setup - so you would need that as far as I can see... @mgcrea Do you have updates to this repo? I'm really curious how you have it working.

I get loads of chef errors as well. Running this feels very messy (not because of your code, but because of GitLab).
