pdfjumbler's Issues

Simple Linux installation.

I really enjoy using your project.. But sometimes I think some users that use Linux had difficulties to install it.
There are two options . First is just forget, i thinks is not best solution. Second one is use script for installation.
There are a simple script that installs the application with copy paste one command. If you like it you can publish it there and i will give any support for support that script.
P.S Tested only on Ubuntu 21.04 and Debian 10.

UTF-8 encoding for build

The build process seems to use the environment encoding, which causes problems on Windows (CP-1252).

Installation Problems

Hi, im really interested in this tool, but i cant get it to install on my windows machine. I tried to compile it with "MakeNSISW" but i get an error in line 57. Could you provide a exe or msi file? Help would be much appreciated.
Thank you in advance
kind regards,
David

Feature request: Tile view for PDF Jumbler

Hello, I am suggesting a feature enhancement for pdfFJumbler to include a tile view mode for PDF pages. This will show PDF pages side by side.

I would also like to mention that another PDF tool named "pdfarranger" recently (early 2020) broke the ability to save local PDF bookmarks. Meaning local hyperlinks break after saving. This forced me to build old versions of PDFarranger on my Linux distro to preserve my workflow. Your tool has all the features I need without any issues. I even think your tool is better then PDFarranger because of the Alt Arrow ability to move pages.

PdfJumbler distributed on Flathub.org

Hi Martin,

Flathub is a build and distribution platform for Linux apps, packaged in
a way that makes them portable and running on all major distributions.
Anyone can submit an app (we're not doing it for profit), but one of the
requirements is to reach out to the application's authors if they would
like to help with maintenance and thus making that distribution channel
considered official.

I've just submitted PdfJumbler for review to be published in https://flathub.org.
The usual maintenance for new releases is just changing version string and
the file checksum. The rest is done by flathub's build infraestructure.

It's understandable if you can't commit to maintaining it, I can do the new
version updates as I'm the original packager and interested in having
PdfJumbler on flathub, but we'd like to know if you are not against
distributing it on Flathub in general
.

Thank you,
Nelson

How to generate .JAR

Hello everyone!

How can I compile these files to the last version? and I want to know what's the last version.

Thanks in advanced

Kindly see this Java project if it is suitable to you to fork it or get usefulness for pdfjumbler

Hi.

Kindly, see the following project which is unfortunately killed by it's author (no further development !!):
http://jpdftweak.sourceforge.net/
https://sourceforge.net/projects/jpdftweak/

Look to it's user manual to see how much it is powerful:
http://jpdftweak.sourceforge.net/manual/index.html

It has need to add only a further 5 or 6 new feature to be nearly complete suite for PDF !

I asked many developers to fork it, but since it is written in Java no one of them interested in it !

Instead of building completely new PDF tool from scratch, why not start from jpdftweak ??

jpdftweak has no build in viewer. But even so, user can use it in conjugation with Okular because last support "autoreload feature" - see:
https://gitlab.com/scarpetta/pdfmixtool/-/issues/43
Just add new feature of "save" to jpdftweak (which is one of 5 or 6 new features needed to be added to it), user can use it easily with Okular in same way like that with PDF Mix Tool ......

But the backends of jpdftweak are upgraded by their developers since long time - see:

  1. itext:
    https://itextpdf.com/en
    https://github.com/itext/i7j-pdfsweep
  2. jgoodies:
    http://www.jgoodies.com/
    http://www.jgoodies.com/freeware/libraries/forms/
I do not know how this will impact further development/fork of jpdftweak .......

If you are interested in forking jpdftweak then, kindly, inform me.
