kiota-authentication-azure-python's Introduction

Microsoft Kiota Authentication Azure Library for Python

PyPI version CI Actions Status Downloads

The Microsoft Kiota Authentication Azure Library is an implementation to authenticate HTTP requests using @azure/identity.

A Kiota generated project will need a reference to an authentication provider to make calls to an API endpoint.

Read more about Kiota here.

Using the Microsoft Kiota Authentication Azure library

In order to use this library, install the package by running:

kiota-authentication-azure-python's Issues

Investigate whether the async credentials should be closed by this library or by the caller

    [Their documentation](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/python/api/azure-core/azure.core.credentials_async.asynctokencredential?view=azure-python) is terrible but I'm wondering what close does and whether we need to call it after each authentication request or when we don't need the credential object anymore? (wondering whether we'll have the same issue as the http package where it stops working after the first request)

pip module is missing 'opentelemetry' dependency

While I'm not using this module directly but through 'msgraph-sdk', the code fails with exception:

File "/home/test/.local/lib/python3.11/site-packages/kiota_authentication_azure/azure_identity_access_token_provider.py", line 10, in <module>
from opentelemetry import trace
ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'opentelemetry'
