hugo-initio's Issues

button for smartphone apps

Hi.
The button for smartphone applications doesn't seem to work anymore.
(navbar-toggle)

Any suggestions to fix it?

Thanks so much. Love your template!

How to get rid of test widget in footer

I'm brand new to Hugo and this is the first template I started messing with. So forgive me if I'm asking something stupid.

I'm trying to get rid of the text widget in the footer. Is there a param that turns that on/off? Same for the FORM WIDGET.

Also, how do I replace the images?

Get Date errors

When i run it i get

ERROR 2017/12/25 09:52:11 Error while rendering "page": template: theme/_default/single.html:13:105: executing "theme/_default/single.html" at <.Site.Params.datefor...>: invalid value; expected string
ERROR 2017/12/25 09:52:11 Error while rendering "section": template: theme/_default/list.html:13:104: executing "theme/_default/list.html" at <.Site.Params.datefor...>: invalid value; expected string

Which is this line in list.html

{{ dateFormat .Site.Params.DateForm .Date }}

Newer bootstrap version

Hi!

I think this theme is awesome and again: Thanks for sharing it with us. I just noticed it still uses Bootstrap 3.x. Any chance to get it updated to Bootstrap 5.x?

Thanks in advance.

KR,
Victor

Can't change background

The config.toml contains a background parameter which seems to be for controlling the background image on the main page. However, as far as I can tell this parameter is never used by the template. Instead, the CSS is hard-coded to always use images/bg_head.jpg.

Please consider changing the template so that it gets the image background from the background parameter.

Unnable to get the theme working

➜  gitlab hugo version
Hugo Static Site Generator v0.68.3/extended linux/amd64 BuildDate: 2020-03-25T06:15:45Z

Steps to reproduce:
Following the main Hugo documentation, I created a new site and added the theme with sample content.

  1. Follow Quick start steps
  2. Use Hugo-initio theme
  3. Expected: sample content post loaded with theme look and feel.
  4. Actual:

Error message for each command.

Service titles displayed without any formatting

Hello,

First of all, thank you for this theme. :)
I’m trying to build a little portfolio and encounter a problem with the service section titles. I took a leaf out of the example site (having copied https://github.com/miguelsimoni/hugo-initio/blob/master/exampleSite/content/service/service1.md for test purpose), and as you can see on the attached picture, the rendering is not as expected. I tried to use a standard MD title as well, just in case, but the result remains the same. I can’t see what I’m doing wrong, but I’m probably missing something… Is it a bug, or is it me?

Thank you!

Mobile Site - Follow Me No Links

I noticed that the icons on the "follow me" section are not linked in the mobile site. Similarly, they're a bit cramped and don't have proper spacing between them.

Uploading image.png…

Similarly, I'll create a pull request on what I've found, but my resolution was to create some breaks between the icons. There might have been more, but I forget off the top of my head.

Read more in Services section

Is there any way to make the front page display a summary of e.g. service1.md, so that if you click on "read more" it takes you to a full version of the page? I tried breaking the page up with <!--more--> and that had no effect, it still displays the full text both on the front page and if you click "read more".

Mobile Site - Overscan

I'll provide a more detailed summary later, but I've noticed there's a bit of "overscan" from the Recent Works section.

An example can be found here, where there's a horizontal scroll bar:

image

I fixed this on my personal site (https://murraycolin.com/) by removing a CSS class (I think it was DIV), but I'll create a pull request on what I found.

Follow Me not showing icons

Working on a website and the "Follow Me" Social icons are not showing up"

    icon = 'fab fa-twitter-square'

    url = 'https://www.instagram.com/miasanhollywood/'
    icon = 'fab fa-instagram'
    footer = true
    sharethis = true
    network = ''

However the site shows this...

Deployment in Netlify

Hi,

I am using your Hugo theme to my website using the R package blogdown. I am deploying the website using netlify. However, netlify asks for a folder called public to deploy the website, and I don't get this folder after building the website via blogdown. Is it something with the R package or some other issues I am not paying close attention? I tried to deploy using the folder docs, the deployment works, but the website is not fully working.

Thanks!

Saying "thanks"

Hello,

A GitHub star isn't enough, thanks for putting this beautiful website together, it sure helped those not skilled in design !

Best,

Updates to README and config.toml of exampleSite

Thanks so much for your hard work on this site and conversion. I finally got it to work after a day. I'm a total hugo noob, I did find a few issues and wonder if you want a pull request:

  1. Using the exampleSite is a bit tricky, the config.toml should have a baseurl of "/" right now it is hard coded to localhost so won't work for real deployments
  2. The config.toml also defaults to a publish site of docs which isn't standard, so I changed and documented it.
  3. I added some more to the README for noobs about how to customize the template and how to host on Netlify and add netlify CMS. Lmk if you want a PR :-)

How can I change syntax highlighting

Hi, I really like your theme, but there is something I was not able to configure. I would like to change the default syntax highlighting for code blocks (monokai i think) to another one (manni). How can i implement this? I tried setting the following in my config.toml file, but it did not do the trick.. Thank you very much in advance.

pygmentsUseClassic=true
PygmentsCodeFences = true
PygmentsStyle = "manni"

Jumpy navbar

There's a problem with the navbar implementation.

When it transitions to sticky, the content will jump up by the height of the navbar.
In a pathological case, when you are about to reach the bottom of the page at the same time, the whole page starts jerking around.

Mobile version responsiveness issue

When i checked the theme on my samsung galaxy s5 neo, i noticed that there is some empty space on the right side of the screen. Please check and let me know whether you can fix this.

Updating theme for newer hugo versions

Hi.

This theme is so amazing, but is a little out of date with respect to current and future hugo practices.
Any eta on when you'd get to a theme update.

I'm in particular refering to incorporating the (base template)[https://gohugo.io/templates/base/#define-the-base-template] system, (page bundling)[https://gohugo.io/content-management/page-bundles/], and changing .Page.URL with .Permalink or .RelPermalink

Thanks.
