looking at that screenshot it looks like you've downloaded the html page instead of the actual file.

You should either clone the git repo or download the raw file:

Ah, thanks for getting back so quickly. I hope this was the appropriate place to be posting about errors like this. I'm glad I decided to post the screenshot. The file extension was still .tmTheme like the other ones already in the folder so it didn't occur to me to double check the file contents. I've simply copied and pasted the raw file over the one that I had and it works now! Thanks for your help :)

This is going to be really helpful for me with a project I'm working on this month.
