About our workshop

Through this workshop we will demonstrate how to mapreduce big data tables through Hive using "Hue".

Get Started

• Open cloudera Virtual machine and launch hue UI from browser

• We can also host hue locally on our local machines

• Login to hue using username: cloudera and password: cloudera

• We can choose big data tables from kaggle to map reduce. In this demo I'll be using a table after generating it from generatedata.com

• Upload tables into hive file browser (make sure that you upload tables only into hive/warehouse folder)

• Create a database or use default database to create a new table in hive.

  • Import table from hive file browser.

  

  • Create table.

• Open query window in hive

• Write query to mapreduce selected table in hive query window.
