adguard-home-filters's Issues

Ubuntu update issue

This rule:
/^ad([sxv]?[0-9]*|system)[_.-]([^.[:space:]]+\
Gives issues with the following domains that is needed when running a ubuntu server:

eu-frankfurt-1-ad-3.clouds.archive.ubuntu.com
_https._tcp.eu-frankfurt-1-ad-3.clouds.archive.ubuntu.com

neo4j.com pages broken

Due to the rule ||mktoweb.com^, lot of functionality on neo4j site gets broken. This rule blocks go.neo4j.com by CNAME.

track-and-trace.dhlparce.nl is blocked by regex

Hello,

This is a great blocklist, however i have one false positive.
The domain track-and-trace.dhlparcel.nl is blocked by the rule Rule: /^track(ing)?[0-9]*[_.-]/ in the regex.txt.

I'm not sure how to whitelist this without breaking the regex, but i thought i could let you know :)

Google play updates blocked

/^(.+[-_.])??xn--/

After applied the regex rules, all Android apps could'nt get updated any longer, have to remove this rule to make it work again.

How to develop your own compilation rules

How to make my own compilation rules, I compiled the following error after compiling

File "generate.py", line 39
raise Exception(f'[E] An error occurred whilst processing {file_yaml}')

couple of false positives

  1. intel.com and all its subdomains are blocked. This comes from the ads-and-tracking-extended.txt list.

  2. track24.ru and track24.net blocked by regexps. These are postal services trackers.

www.pennlive.com

Potential updates to filters.txt sources

Hello,

Thank you for your AG Home filter list. I think it's great. I'd like to suggest a few updates to the sources used, based on the information below. As it is your list, however, I respect whatever decision you make.

  1. The disconnect lists should be considered for removal from the list. Disconnect.me has indicated that the lists are "[...]not maintained, has not been updated, and is not actively distributed us." As a result of this information, they have been removed from the pi-hole default lists and I feel they should be removed here too. See pi-hole/pi-hole#3450 for more information.
  2. https://www.malwaredomainlist.com/hostslist/hosts.txt is redundant as it is already included in StevenBlack's unified hosts and could be considered for removal. This can be seen here in StevenBlack's readme under sources.

Thank you again for the great list.

please add new filters

Please don't make filters.txt bigger

I don't use your filters in AdGuardHome as I went back to Pi-Hole which I like better (and which I'm using with your other scripts).

However, I'm successfully using your filters.txt and regex.txt in AdGuard Pro on my iPhone and iPad. I've added them as subscriptions to the "Privacy Settings" which allows for a system-wide blocking on those devices via a local VPN. I seriously think that your lists are simply the best available!

There is just one possible problem: When I added several hosts files in the past I was faced with the problem mentioned on above site:

NOTE: Important to notice that too many subscriptions can lead to tunnel crash, i.e. the app will stop responding and the filtering will cease.

Fortunately, this does not happen with your lists: They block all sub-domains of those trackers/adservers/etc. but are not that big to cause a tunnel crash.

So my plea is: Don't make filters.txt bigger as it is now as it would probably no longer work in AdGuard Pro.

If you really plan to add new hosts files I suggest to offer them as separate filterlists for AdGuardHome (where a tunnel crash does not occur).

Thanks for considering this and thanks for your great work!
