unknown way to handle adapter errors

Recently I been working with this adapter. While reading the documentation and using the adapter it seems there is no way to handle errors of disconnection from the mongodb.
For now I been handling this as this.io.sockets.adapter.on('error', (err)=> {....}).
My questions :

• is if there is a better way to do this or pass this error handler as a parameter ?
• Where can I pass the re-connection parameters to mongoose ?

Status of Maintenance, Update Needed -- current URL string parser is depricated

I am getting this warning message when I connect with this:

(node:84416) DeprecationWarning: current URL string parser is deprecated, and will be removed in a future version. To use the new parser, pass option { useNewUrlParser: true } to MongoClient.connect.

Looking at the dependencies, I see that there are new versions for several of the dependencies. Most likely this problem could be solved by updating the dependencies.

Is this package still being maintained? If I were to fix the issue and issue a PR, would it be pulled into the code?

Please let me know.

Does not work with socket.io version 3/4. Is there any road map for updating this to work with version 3/4?
