Actually, that does work. You don't even need swingx to use JXMapViewer2. Maybe you imported the wrong class? There's an example using CompoungPainter in the project sample2. Does that work for you?

my application is working with swingx. And it's matters in which order your classpath is. JXMapViewer.jar before swingx works, but swingx before jxmap you can't even compile.
May be it's a solution to make a JXMapViewer.jar without any swingx classes in. This seem's to work.

Interesting - I am surprised to find somebody who is actually using SwingX. The SwingX lib also contains an implementation of JXMapViewer, so no matter what you do, it will always work only one way.

it's me again. I have removed the swingx implementation of the MapViewer. So i have only 1 MapViewer. I just need the JStatusbar.

Maybe you can just copy&paste it? I wouldn't expect too many updates of the swingx code base ..

Hi! I have same issue. But I use SwingX and JXMapViewer2 as gradle dependencies from Maven Central. I think that if JXMapViewer2 is not part of SwingX then it should not use SwingX package name org.jdesktop.swingx. Because of that org.jdesktop.swingx.painter packages from SwingX and JXMapViewer2 overlap and used the one first in classpath.

For me it's working after some merging, because i have implemented an overlay feature into the mapviewer.

But after some refactoring and some moving now everything is working. Without interfering anything.
