Provide a LaTeX template?

Document modes

The APA7 LaTeX package actually offers four different modes (journal-like appearance, double-spaced manuscript, double-spaced student manuscript, LaTeX-like document). It would be good to offer some of these:

• double-spaced manuscript (default)
• journal-like appearance
• single-spaced document

APA formatted bibliography

With long documents Typst seems to break with an error related to #emph.

• Add a reproducible example / test
• Figure out what is broken and send appropriate issue
• Format the bibliography to APA format (at least a hanging indent or something)

Document metadata

Grab and create PDF metadata from title and author info

• title
• authors

APA-style headers

A few things still missing:

• All headers should have the same font size
• Indent level 4 and 5 headers

Write documentation

This should go from "what's quarto?" to "Oh, now I know how to create a basic APA7-ish PDF from Quarto source using quarto-apaish-typst."

Word count

Make document class an argument to the extension

I would like to write

format: 
  apaish-typst:
    class: manuscript

instead of format: apaish-manuscript-typst. But I don't know how to do that :(

Authors and institutions

• Authors and institutions should be listed separately, with references (e.g. subscript letters) linking them

What about a Word document?

My preference is not to create a Word output document.

The reason is that I'd imagine people using the .pdf for submissions and preprints, whereas the .docx output (can use the vanilla .docx output from Quarto) is for collaborators wishing to edit Word documents. That doesn't need any formatting at all.

If the journal does require a APA7 formatted Word document, perhaps we can advise changing journals?

Make sure everything also works in two column mode (e.g. full-width content; typst/typst#2360).

Author notes

Add an author note with:

• Corresponding author info
• Other optional author note content
• Position the note appropriately

Fix corresponding author

Currently assumes first author is corresponding.
