User related functions for the API fetch requests

Code for the functions dealing with the user-related fetch requests.
These are the functions that will abstract all the logic of the fetch requests behind simple function calls

They should receive as parameters the data that will be used in the call, encapsulated into an object and a setter that will be called with the returned userObj to set the "user" state at the top level.
