[Help]: Few Questions

Firstly, loved this concept and theme...

  1. How to remove the padding around the webpage?

image

  1. Make Ctrl+Alt+W one (The floating view of sidebar) as default when the browser launches? (the one in screenshot)
    image

  2. How to keep the url input suggestion at the bottom only?
    image

  3. pinned extensions on the right floating window instead of the one where the url bar is?

Vertical Sidebery Workflow + Bookmar Toolbar improvements

Thank you for this great Firefox Theme. Removing Dependency of fx-autoconfig really made it more easier.

I use vertical panel and vertical pinned tab for sidebery. Also i have created a FeatureRequest on Sidebery if it get implemented, we will have global Pinned tabs and local panel pinned tabs ( maybe worth considering if it gets implemented in future so shyfox dosent need to do rework for compatibility ).

Screenshot->

My current firefox using firefox-ui-fix ->

Using this Sidebery setup in ShyFox, it looks like this ->
image

Also if bookmark Toolbar can be improved, don't know exactly how it should look or work but just wanted to ask if you have some implemention in mind. I use bookmark toolbar for bookmarks that i access frequently or that has higher priority, rest of all other bookmar sits in bookmark menu. Screenshot ->

For ShyFox, you can see how it looks in previous screenshot.

Sideberry imports

There is something wrong when try to import 3.0 theme to sideberry there is nothing imported when trying
Took the file from the other version and its working and it looking better

Firefox update

seems the update from firefox destroyed the theme is it right or me there does somthing wrong?

Userchrome.css does not take effect

After following the installation instructions it seems like something is wrong. After doing step 4 and restarting firefox there is no change.
Do you have any idea why this might be?

  • i fully killed firefox
  • toolkit.legacyUserProfileCustomizations.stylesheets is enabled in about:config
  • chrome and user.js are copied into ~/.mozilla/firefox

Background for some menus is transparent

Haven't seen anybody else comment about this, but I found some menus to have no background. pictures shown below:
image

To explain the picture: the find panel at the bottom has a transparent background, the toolbar to the right has a transparent background (also I cannot put stuff in the toolbar, hence why there is only two items)
But the right click menu does have a background.

Youtube full screen behavior

When using youtube, I encountered strange behavior when clicking on the 'full screen' button on youtube.com
L5lpwlkMYa

Instead of taking up the whole screen as expected, only some of the interface is hidden and the video remains quite small. Below the video, you can still see comments and recommended videos as well (not shown in this screenshot):
firefox_kI5RaltXou

For comparison, the full screen video feature as it looks in Chrome (Just for comparison):
chrome_DDeyoNsP7N

Let me know if this behavior is a result of user error or if I need to provide further info that could be helpful.

Ed.: This full screen behavior is the same on other pages like disney+ or hbomax - not exclusive to youtube.

Homepage shortcut looks broken

image

homepage shortcut looks like this, after i installed the recent update.

at first i thought maybe one of my extension is causing this, then i fresh installed firefox with only sidebery and userchrome toggle extension, still it looks like this.

Searchbar sometimes is off screen

image

The searchbar is not visible all the time and I cannot figure out why. When I drag it up while customizing the toolbar it shows but goes back off screen when I let go of the mouse.

Edit: If density is changed in the "customize toolbar" page it shows up like normal.

Pannels stuck

                                                    ───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────

When I press the extension button on the toolbar and lose focus, the extension window collapses, but the extension button on the toolbar remains active as if it were pressed. The toolbar does not disappear and stucks. This issue affects any buttons, including built-in ones, such as the Firefox user profile or browsing history.

After restarting the browser, the effect disappears. No other actions resolve the situation.

Extension buttons are sticking

Just leaving this here to let you know that this bug is known and researched

A prime example:
Toggle the checkbox number 3 in the Userchrome Toggle popup with the mouse. I rename it to "Hide Navbar", the default is just "Style 3". If you do this, the toggle will work, but with it the popup will disappear and the button will remain active as if the popup were open. To get rid of this you can restart your browser or turn off and on the extension

Similar behavior was also noticed with uBlock Origin. Only sometimes, when you click on the reload button inside a uBlock popup, the popup disappears and the button gets stuck.

This can be explained by the fact that popups from extensions are html children of #nav-bar - the panel with url bar. All other popups are children of #mainPopupSet - a separate node for popups.

And when #nav-bar is touched in some way, like toggle or something else, then the popups get squished. This is a bug in Firefox itself, not my theme. It's just that in vanilla all elements are static and have almost no animations. With the help of css #nav-bar except me nobody seems to have touched so deeply. That's why this bug came up only in such an unbelievable use case.

At the moment I don't have time to deal with Firefox developers, explaining to them the essence of this intricately woven bug that appears only when using some unknown css theme. Moreover, I don't know how to send bug reports to Firefox.

There's a small chance this can be fixed on the theme side, I'm not denying it. But I have no options at all on how to fix it, no clues at all.

I don't even know how to program properly myself, I'm just a schoolboy with a lot of free time. Yes, I am learning, but my level is obviously not enough. This theme is literally my first serious project, I learned while creating it.

If you are a Firefox developer or an enthusiast with enough knowledge and skill to figure out the Firefox source code, then just do it. Let's make our favorite open source browser even better!

Hide every element when pressed F11 = Focus Mode

Hide every element of the browser when in FullScreen Mode, to turn it into Focus Mode. Elements can be accessed by hitting there respective edges.

Example -

This is whole display, nothing hovering, nothing in the way, full web content mode.

Collecting feedback

Do you like the fact that the controls are divided into three separate panels? Do you like the fact that they only show up when you hover? Let's say I could make the right panel always visible and hide it only together with the left tab bar. I was inspired by a long comment under a post on reddit and decided to ask users. Leave your feedback, impressions and ideas here

userchrome toggles died after update

Anyone else have broken userchrome toggles after the update to 126?

I can hide them, but I can't unhide them anymore. This only started happening like 3 days ago.

Drag and drop text into sidebar

On previous version, you could drag and drop selected text to sidebery tab bar to search. but on v3 drag and drop isn't working anymore, is there a way to bring this back please?

MacOS compatibility

First up this is a really well made theme thanks for putting in the work and sharing it.

After installing fx-autoconfig the menu did disappear from the bottom panel but the right side panel did not show up. when editing the menu the right side menu appears as well as the OSX window close elements.

EDIT: when showing the native macos titlebar at the top the menu appears. I would really be interested in using the menu without the titlebar active.

Navbar visible on fullscreen video when "Hide Navbar" disabled

When the "Hide Navbar" option is disabled in userchrome toggle, the navbar remains partially visible while watching fullscreen video. Attached are two screenshots, one with "Hide Navbar" disabled and the navbar still visible, the other with it enabled and the video looking as it should.

This happens on all sites when video is in fullscreen, not just YouTube.

Right click menu is fully transparent

Testing ShyFox, it seems the right click menu is fully transparent:

Use hidden mode by default

Hello, thank you for this project.

Using extended tabs by default breaks some extensions that can be opened as a tab, such as bitwarden, it would be interesting to use hidden mode by default, avoiding this:

Title Bar Buttons and Drop Down Menu Broken by Update

After the newest Firefox update, the title bar buttons have (maybe?) one pixel at most, of usage. Also, the dropdown menu containing the hamburger menu and extensions is completely gone. Screw firefox updates ;-;

could you make a script to automaticly do the steps for windows?

Firefox laggy with ShyFox

Hey, I just updated from the old version, where fx-autoconfig was still required.
My Firefox is now pretty laggy, like sometimes it has little freezes or things take ages to load.

Could this be related to ShyFox in any way and can I debug that somehow?
I can't remember myself installing anything else that could slow down the browser.

About the pin tab

I am trying to pin a new tab for one specific workshop, but it seems that the pin tab is pinned for all the workshops, so I'm wondering how I can pin one tab for one workshop?

Can we add Floorp support

Hi, can we consider adding Floorp (firefox fork) support? Thank you so much for creating such great add-on.

sidebery visual issues

Hi there, thanks for making this, I adore this theme.
I ran into a bit of a problem with sidebery. I followed the instruction and removed my old style for sidebery but for some reason there are pointy ends in the corners of the sidebar. Is there a way to remove them?

Panels to be hidden by setting

For me, having three panels is perfect, but I would like to have a configuration for having panels hidden by default. I don't usually use the right side panel and fills that bit of space that makes some websites to change from desktop to mobile view, so I need to hide it.
But I have the browser in three different screens, so I would have to configure UserChrome toggles every time I launch the browser in every window (and in every new window that I open).

So what I propose is to have some sort of setting for having panels hidden by default.

Also, thanks a lot for this theme! I really love it!

Adress bar not center

Hi Maybe I set something wrong, but the address bar looks weird to me.... And can't you get rid of those windows controls on the right and put the controls as seen in your picture....
firefox_Roy3U06pAV

The shortcut for `Userchrome Toggle` extension failed to re visible bars.

I just updated to Firefox 126.0b5 with Windows 11 24H2 26100.1.

The shortcut for Userchrome Toggle extension (Ctrl Shift 1, Ctrl Shift 2, Ctrl Shift 3) failed to function.

I noticed the checkbox buttons can visible or hide bars, and the shortcut key can hide it but can't revisable it.

I have tried to change the shortcuts to other keys, but it's still not working.

Can "Shy mode" only be enabled when Firefox is maximized?

Firstly I would like to thank you for this incredible customization. I loved the idea and thought it was very well done.

That's why I'd like to help improve it. Currently, it is a little complicated to access the side menus when Firefox is in windowed mode. As you can see below.
Windowed

For comparison purposes, below is how it works in maximized mode. Accessing the side menus is very easy and quick.
Maximized

Would there be any way to facilitate access to the side menus while Firefox is in windowed mode? Maybe make Firefox only stay in "Shy mode" while it's maximized?

(I'm using this customization on Windows 11)

Window control buttons problem

Firstly, Thank You for this awesome project and keep it up! This is another proof that, the ff can be much better than any other Chromium based browser. 😃

I think the concept is great, but it would be better if the window control buttons

  • can be hidden
  • or can be part of the right sidebar vertically
  • or can be part of the address bar (below)
especially when the Window in maximized.

image

These buttons is always a problem in modern window graphics design. In my case, I use unite extension in GNOME to hide these buttons on maximize window. And on top of it, I use these buttons on the left side.

So, I use Arch btw, It would be great if this theme can be installed w/ system update through AUR, like this.
