Variable name shadows built-in string library

The use of the variable name string here will shadow the built-in string library. You should avoid this if possible.

Code should be more pythonic

The code here could be simplified to just

print(string[:x])

If you're trying to introduce looping, this would be more pythonic:

for c in string[:x]:
    print(c)
