appeears-data-resources's Issues

Opening and closing quotes are different in wget command

From an external user...

I tried to submit a comment but it generated a 'site down' error so here's the comment:

On this page: https://github.com/nasa/AppEEARS-Data-Resources/blob/main/guides/How-to-bulk-download-AppEEARS-outputs.md

There's a really frustrating typo in the wget instructions. In the attached file, look really closely and note the opening and closing quotes are different. As a result, when someone (like me) copies this and inserts the token it (1) doesn't work, and (2) generates a cryptic error message (invalid header) that's totally unhelpful to non-Unix (or maybe non wget) users.

This would be a really good one to fix!

Date Formatting Suggestion in Section 6 of How to Work with AppEEARS COG Outputs Tutorial

In section 6 of: https://github.com/nasa/AppEEARS-Data-Resources/blob/main/Python/tutorials/COG_AppEEARS_S3_Direct_Access.ipynb

time_list = []
for obs in range(len(EVI_cog_urls)):
    doy = EVI_cog_urls[obs].split('_doy')[1].split('_aid')[0]
    doy_date = datetime.strptime(doy, '%Y%j').strftime('%d-%m-%Y')
    time_list.append(doy_date)
time = xarray.Variable('time', time_list)

the doy_date variable is formatted into '%d-%m-%Y' which is not typically used in the US. I recommend updating the format to: YYYY-MM-DD format (or alternatively MM-DD-YYYY).

No reponse

I am not getting any response. Any ideas?

botocore.errorfactory.NoSuchBucket error

When I use this tutorial, I ran into an error at step In[17].
obj = boto3_client.get_object(Bucket = bucket_name, Key = key_name)
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "", line 1, in
File "./python3.8/site-packages/botocore/client.py", line 553, in _api_call
return self._make_api_call(operation_name, kwargs)
File "./python3.8/site-packages/botocore/client.py", line 1009, in _make_api_call
raise error_class(parsed_response, operation_name)
botocore.errorfactory.NoSuchBucket: An error occurred (NoSuchBucket) when calling the GetObject operation: The specified bucket does not exist
I checked the bucket_name is 'appeears-output', but why it gave me error NoSuchBucket?
Thanks.
