"Port" to lm_sensors

Hi,

wouldn't it be better to report your findings to lm_sensors? This would be a nice improvement. I'm not yet sure if I want to risk it and try your program on my V3-571G, but maybe it works with a wider range of Acer systems

EDIT:
It's working! Great job, thank you so much!
A question for Windows: I have no experience developing for Windows and the cpp file won't compile (the official one doesn't work because it checks the model) โ€“ can you provide binaries?
EDIT2:
It was just missing the stdafx.h but one can just replace it with tchar.h as this is the only other header missing.

Investigate on what other models does this might work

It would be really good to compile a list of devices on which this whole direct-port-writing-to-control-fan business works on or MIGHT work.

Currently users have reported working on a few other models apart from the original Acer 5750G (see README).

A few pointers if anybody is interested in working on this (@leonardkoenig? @DeHein?)

  1. Start from the existing models which others have confirmed and look for schematics. We're basically looking for matching chipsets.
    1. One way would be search for schematics (for example "Acer 5750G schematics pdf" in Google yelds this) and take note of the components.
    2. The relevant components IMO are the EC and the PCH: For example, the schematic above shows the EC is a KB930 which is connected to the Intel Cougar Point PCH via an LPC bus.
  2. Find out what are the common features of the laptops that this works (hopefully it will be the EC or PCH)

Automate scripting

Hi !

Thanks for your script.
It works on my Aspire 5750G.

I am new to ubuntu.
Do you have any ideea how I could run a script which can monitor sensors and run your script when temperature rises above 75% and get back to NORMAL when below 75% ?

I do not think that having it at MAX all time is a good option because it might dry the thermal paste too fast.

More fine grained control?

Do you have any ideas for making a more permanent. fine-grained solution for fancontrol?

Also Script is working on 5742G and 5741G for reference.

Fan Maximiser works on any laptop.

Funny thing - this fan maximiser works on every single laptop, works on all Lenovo Legion laptops, on my Legion 5, on my old Asus laptop, an ideapad at school, basically it worked on everything I tried with it.

Acer Aspire 5755G

I just want to say that the script works perfectly for Acer Aspire 5755G too.

No longer working on Windows 10 since last update.

Hello, I've been using your software but it no longer works, This happened right after the windows update of November. I'm guessing they must've changed something in the security which prevents the software to do anything. I can no longer play any game without it dropping to 25 fps after 5 mins.

btw, I'm using Windows 10 64bits on Acer Aspire E1-571G.

Don't know if you still are into programming but if you could take a look it would be awesome :)

Port linux is possible? thx

You can explain a little bit that makes your application?
I do not understand the code well. Could you make a version for Linux ?. Thank you.
