providers's Introduction

Providers

Community maintained list of Nextcloud providers

If you quickly want to sign up to a reliable Nextcloud provider that gives at least 2GB of free, unmetered storage (without any time limit), you can use our simple signup program where we select a provider for you based on your location.

The approach of maintaining a list like this on GitHub has been less than ideal, so we decided to archive it. It is challenging to maintain well, pr’s often break things, and the list is outdated much of the time.

You can leave comments on your experiences with the providers or ask questions in our hosting category on the forums. Feedback is VERY much welcomed as it helps others to choose their ideal provider!

providers's Issues

"at least 2GB of free, unlimited storage"

It's slightly confusing what "at least 2GB of free, unlimited storage" means. It might be better to clarify the "unlimited" part. Does it mean you can store as many times as you want as long as it's <= 2GB?

logos should link to website, not to larger logo

I am not sure if there is a reason why it is like this currently. But conventionally when you click on the logo of a company/organization, it takes you to their website. On this list it takes you to the full size image file for the logo. I am not sure why anyone would want that?

If the goal is to direct people to hosts so they can use the product, it would be less confusing the usual way.

How to add an item to the list

Step 0

Check these:

  • Does the provider follow our trademark guidelines - in simple terms, a provider can not use our logo or images and screenshots and text from our website without permission.
  • Can I use the logo and text of the provider (if you are not the provider yourself, you should make sure you have permission to use their logo)

Step 1

Edit the readme and add the provider you want to add in the correct way (copy and adjust another provider; make sure you add yourself in alphabetical order on name). Use this link or click the edit icon on top of the readme.
You need to be logged in for this to work!

Step 2.

Create a pull request:

You can enter a description and see the difference:
Screenshot_20200520_085732

Step 3.

Add your logo. Now you go and move into the 'branch' you created. see where my mouse cursor is:
Screenshot_20200520_085818
You navigate into the logos folder:
Screenshot_20200520_085916
And there you upload the new file (make sure it has the right size!)
Screenshot_20200520_085943
You commit this change (the file addition) to the branch of the pull request.

Step 4

Now you have a pull request with the image and the readme. Check if it looks good below, then click the number to go to your PR - it should be good for somebody to review and merge.

Good luck!

Broken link

The Spry Servers link is broken. Tried to get to the domain fixing the URL and it seems they're not providing the nextcloud service now.

Error: Something happened, 400 Bad Request

Hello! I'm simply trying to sign-up for any cloud provider. Cloudamo preferably.

Oh the sign-up page, I put in my email, and I get the "Error: Something happened" message. In the console, I can see on the POST request, I get the "400 Bad Request" message.

Here's the exact reponse headers:

And the request headers:

This issue persists on mobile for me, and my only guess is that it's because I'm using a VPN.

Is there any way to vet providers?

Are there any methods in place to vet providers? I see this is a community list. However, providers are definitely not equal in terms of not only apps and software provided, but mostly in terms oftheir actual support and dependability.

Thanks for considering.

spryCloud terminating their services

Received an email from spryCloud announcing they are ceasing operations - sounds like an obvious candidate for removal from the list:

Dear david oliver,

We're sending you this e-mail to notify you of spryCloud's discontinuation. Due to ongoing financial difficulties, and the amount of time, resources and money it costs to operate spryCloud, we cannot afford to continue providing this service.

We request you please migrate to another provider or take a backup and download all your data immediately. We will begin terminating accounts and purging data this Friday, August 4th.

Thank you for understanding, and your loyalty over the years.

We are very sorry for the trouble and inconvenience we know this will cause you.

Sincerely,

Sincerely,
Spry Servers
