kbmouse's Introduction

 * Virtual Mouse 1.0.0 by Alessandro Pira - http://www.alessandropira.org/ *

 * WHAT IS VIRTUAL MOUSE? *

Virtual mouse is a kernel module that allows you to control a virtual mouse
device with your keboard.

 * INSTALLATION *

Virtual mouse has been written and tested against 3.3.6 linux kernel.
It *should* work well on any 3.* kernel.

You need kernel headers in order to compile the module.
After unpacking the archive (you probably already did this, since you are
reading this file) enter the vmouse folder and type:

 make

and vmouse.ko will be built.
To install the module run as root:

 insmod vmouse.ko

 * DEFAULT KEYS *

When the left CTRL is pressed you can use your keypad to control your
mouse. "1" is down-left, "2" is down, "3" is down-right, "4" is left, and
so on. "0" is your right button, and "." is your left button.

 * LICENSE *

Virtual Mouse is under GNU/GPL license. You should find a copy of the
license in the "COPYRIGHT" file.

 * FINE TUNING *

All the things you can tune are defined in the file vmouse.h.
Basically you can change keys and cursor speed.
After modifying the vmouse.h file you need to rebuild ("make") the module.

To change keys you can edit the scancodes defines.

To get the scancodes from your keyboard you can use the "evbug" linux
module, just install it:

 modprobe evbug

and watch your kernel log output as you type keys, for example assuming
your syslog is sending kernel messages to /var/log/kern.log:

 tail -f /var/log/kern.log | grep "Type: 1,"

The scancode you are looking for is listed in the Code entry of the log:

[...] evbug.c: Event. Dev: input3, Type: 1, Code: 29, Value: 1
                                                  ^^
In this example, 29 (0x1D hexadecimal) is the Left CTRL scancode.

STEP is the dimension of the move corresponding to the first pression of a
key, while STEP+MAX_ACCEL is a measure of the maximum speed you can obtain
by holding down keys.
