health-inequalities-notebook's Introduction

Source code for NHS-R Community website

Following the values and commitment of the NHS-R Community to open source this website has been built in Quarto to be open in its code and further contribution.

Many of the blogs, which go back to the start of NHS-R Community in 2018, were first posted through a WordPress site and so we don't have a record in GitHub for their contributions, however, the author and the date they wrote the blog are in the source code.

New contributions and corrections can be made directly to this repository through a pull request. Details on how to contribute to an NHS-R Community GitHub repository can be found in the Statement on Tools technical appendix.

This website is not yet live!

Whilst this site is being built the current url www.nhsrcommunity.com is directed to the WordPress site. All the blog posts are being saved under the original titles so that when this site is redirected to the www.nhsrcommunity.com url they will be same as the WordPress.

health-inequalities-notebook's Issues

Add README

It would be great to add a README when time allows, I was just thinking about showing somebody but there isn't anything to link to yet

Publish to github pages

This book should be published to github pages. I'm happy to arrange that but don't currently have permissions. Might be worth dealing with issue #1 first.

List out health inequality expected analyses

Assign to @Trendy once accepted

  • Ethnicity - grouped for power (explain requirements for power)
  • Gender
  • Co-morbidities (by number or specific like Asthma, heart disease?)
  • Long term conditions
  • Deprivation - when quintiles are used instead of deciles
  • Places like PCN/PBB
  • Age profile - using population pyramid
  • Other?

Some things are flagged in the local system GPRCC/Ehealthscope (a Nottingham based system like a TRE which is available for GPs to access for patient level care and now hosts public health data like cause of death for public health analysis only).

Rename repository

It might be worth dropping the "QuartoBook" from the name as this describes how it's been built rather than what it contains. Perhaps then expanding on HIQ to health-inqualities-notebook or something similar?
