I don't have permission to comment on code, and not much time to actually dig in and help, so a little code review (and totally appreciate that this is probably not a finished thing!)

(Mostly nitpicky stuff, and zero focus on code style etc.)

Line 31 of bootstrap/start.php should probably be changed (not great to have dev-environment-specific stuff up? Pretty minor)

MapsController is using the Maps model which is directly accessing S3. This is initially convenient but it'll bite you in the butt pretty quick - reads from S3 can be slow and aren't guaranteed-reliable (perhaps cache this information? Or pull it from a CDN attached to the S3 bucket?)

Line 45 of PostsController, should be 'failed' rather than 'faikled'

routes.php potentially leaks information of interest to an attacker (?)
