Cannot reproduce :
when I signin using RPX, it creates a new user with the email address of my facebook account (for example). If I try to signin via a normal signin form using the same email address, I get a validation error 'Email is already taken'.

Do you think that filling the password with a random string when creating a new user would be a clean workaround?

This is a Devise bug and this is fixed in Devise master :
