escape's Issues

On slow machines (like eco32, gimmix, bochs), the output of <tab><tab> doesn't always appear immediatly.

You have to press a key to show it.

Could Escape fit on a floppy?

Even today the floppies are still being used, for example - as virtual floppies inside the coreboot open source BIOS. Just imagine: your wonderful OS could be a part of someone's BIOS build! (for coreboot supported motherboard, maybe you have or could get one - see https://www.coreboot.org/Supported_Motherboards )

If you already have a coreboot-supported motherboard, or a real chance to get one, - wouldn't it be cool to be able to launch your own OS straight from the BIOS chip? ;) With one simple command its possible to add any floppy to coreboot BIOS build - and then you see it as a boot entry! Multiple floppies could be added this way (as long as you have enough space left inside the BIOS flash chip, luckily LZMA compression could be used for the stored floppies to reduce their occupied size)

Not an issue

You're the only other person other than me I've ever seen use Scons as a build system for an OS project.

Changing to GUI on eco32/mmix should have no effect.

Currently, ui seems to stop handling ctrl+X keystrokes for some reason.

Quitting top via q doesn't work in the guishell.

The guishell crashes when top is run (at least often)

unable to reach to desktop.

I am unable to launch the desktop to reach to the GUI mode.
after logging in I just typed desktop but it shows error:
terminate called after throwing an instance of 'N3esc13default_errorE'
what(): Env-var WINMNG not set
help me to lauch the gui mode.

Occasionally, the guishell doesn't paint correctly at the beginning (partially black background etc.)

Building errors

Hi! I got next errors after ./build.sh x86_64

->binutils

1. Makefile:4849 configure-gas
   alloca.h GAS does not know what format to use for target x86_64-elf-escape

2. Makefile:3560 configure-binutils
   BFD does not support target x86_64-elf-escape. Look in bfd/config.bfd for supported targets

Extend the decode-panic concept to failed asserts and similar in userland.

Ctrl+c doesn't work on eco32 and gimmix.

Sometimes, e.g. the desktop over-paints a started application

Painting bug in fileman when we've scrolled and open a folder that is scrollable as well.
