I'm a research software engineer working with with Nick Golding in the Infectious Disease Ecology and Modelling team at Telethon Kids Institute. My primary goal is to to improve data analysis with free open source software.

installing rmarkdown

Once you have R and RStudio installed, install the knitr, rmarkdown and tidyverse packages.

install.packages("knitr")
install.packages("rmarkdown")
install.packages("tidyverse")

To convert rmarkdown to PDF you will need to install LaTeX.
Note that these installations might take 5-10 minutes, as they are
large files, so make sure you have a good internet connection.

My name is Nick Tierney, I'm a research fellow at Monash University, working under Di Cook and Rob Hyndman. My research focusses on developing R packages that facilitate principled exploration and evaluation of missing data; I want to make it easy and fun to explore missing data.

installing / updating R and RStudio

You will need to install or update R to the latest version, and make sure you have RStudio.

1. Install R from here, selecting your operating system: https://cloud.r-project.org

Alternatively, for windows and mac, download directly at:
- Windows: https://cloud.r-project.org/bin/windows/base/R-3.4.0-win.exe
- Mac: https://cloud.r-project.org/bin/macosx/R-3.4.0.pkg

2. Install RStudio from here: https://www.rstudio.com/products/rstudio/download/
