Usage:

wherefrom $FILE [$WHEREFROM]

Requires:

  • Free utility xattr by Apple

Install:

sudo mv wherefrom.sh /usr/local/bin/wherefrom
sudo chmod 755 /usr/local/bin/wherefrom

spaces and/or %20 in WhereFrom URL data

I have been researching and working with trying to xattr the kMDItemWhereFroms and have discovered that it doesn't like spaces or %20 in the data you are trying to write. I was hoping your script would do a better job than the command line, but it also breaks. It would be GREAT if we could figure this out and fix it!
