That is not true. When opening such a file in NPP, it asks if it should oben in Admin-Mode when you try to save it. When opening in Admin Mode, the edited data is lost. You need to manually copy and paste it to the admin-NPP.

I agree that this plugin does have a valid use case. I used this for a long time to avoid having to edit the shortcut to run as admin or relaunch as admin when opening a file directly. As @pebl-hank noted, you lose your data when Notepad++ relaunches.

So true... without this addon the Notepad became unusable and its been months since its been removed

Hi, I have used this plugin because my main user in Windows is a standard user and I have a separate user that has administrator privileges. This means that when I restart Notepad++ as administrator to save a protected file, a completely different profile gets loaded with no opened files. With this plugin I could simply escalate my privileges temporarily to save my file, keeping my session.

Immediate workaround has been published long time ago. But you are on your own, as using this plugin nowadays (with the Windows Update forced restarts behind) can lead to N++ data-loss, as that plugin interferes with the way the N++ uses for enforcing the flushing of the buffered data from the the disk cache to the disk itself.

As it looks like the author of the plugin has abandoned it, maybe there will be someone willing and able to port its functionality to N++?
