Configuring cmake on Linux fails due to missing file, `receiver.h`

The output of

mkdir driver/build
cd driver/build
cmake .. -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Release

is

CMake Error at example/CMakeLists.txt:6 (add_executable):
  Cannot find source file:

    ../src/ref/receiver.h

  Tried extensions .c .C .c++ .cc .cpp .cxx .cu .m .M .mm .h .hh .h++ .hm
  .hpp .hxx .in .txx .f .F .for .f77 .f90 .f95 .f03 .ispc


CMake Error at example/CMakeLists.txt:6 (add_executable):
  No SOURCES given to target: example_receiver


CMake Generate step failed.  Build files cannot be regenerated correctly.

Also, while this is probably unrelated but, compiling with tests and examples commented out in CMakeList.txt results in this.

CMake 3.19.6 & Clang 11.1.0
