Being in places where Internet connectivity is not always assured, it comes and goes, it is a good practice for your team to know your current status, this attemps to do that with less of your effort

Features:

  • check internet speed using fast.com
  • if it is low (< 1mbps) update slack status

Requirements:

  • Selenium webdriver
  • Ruby v2^
  • Slack token

Possible usage:

  • can be put in your cron job to be run in a 30mins interval

TODO:

  • Refactor the code to remove the "@"
  • Use a headless browser - urgent
  • If the internet is above 1mbps it should clear the status

slack-status's Issues

use a headless webdriver

currently we are using a real browser with selenium which means it opens up a real browser window to run the page provided, if this was running in a CI then it would fail.

We should be able to silently run this.

update slack status

if the net is too slow update slack with some emojis if not then clear the status
