Loggr is shutting down

Information in http://loggr.net/:

We will be stopping this website and all services on October 19th, 2021. Please make sure you've migrated to another solution by then. If you need help, please reach out to [email protected]. We're sorry for any inconvenience this causes.

You can continue to login until the 19th to access your data.

Firebase?

I don't have enough understanding in to how firebase helps, but I am sure they have some app based analytics that were launched during Google IO this year. If I get time to research, will update it here.

Make it possible to search for selfhosted offerings

What is missing from the changes in #93 and #109, is something to search for selfhostable software, as there is no uniform tag for all of those.
Especially since users are referred here from the selfhosted list (issue), that might be something to consider.

With the PRs and the merged parts already there, there's no way to ctrl+f for a selfhosted tag.
But one can easily jump to the SaaS ones. To me that seems to less likely to be a needed feature.

Distinguish Free/libre software from proprietary software

Following the move from awesome-selfhosted (awesome-selfhosted/awesome-selfhosted#2024 (comment)) it would be nice to know which software is Free/Libre software, and which is proprietary.

Free software requires that these freedoms are given to the user:

  • Freedom 0: The freedom to run the program for any purpose.
  • Freedom 1: The freedom to study how the program works, and change it to make it do what you wish.
  • Freedom 2: The freedom to redistribute and make copies so you can help your neighbour.
  • Freedom 3: The freedom to improve the program, and release your improvements (and modified versions in general) to the public, so that the whole community benefits.

Most OSI-approved licenses (GPL, MIT/BSD, Apache...) are considered Free/Libre.

Entries that have been imported from awesome-selfhosted already have their licenses listed, so I think it's just a matter of adding a Proprietary or © to non-free entries.

In some cases, the software itself is libre but has a hard dependency on a third-party service that cannot be self-hosted/is outside the user's control. To workaround this we added the tag in awesome-selfhosted. This should only apply to software that will not work (or with very limited functionality) without access to the third-party.

It would be easier to fix #93 first (no need to check SaaS entries). Entries imported from awesome-selfhosted already have the proper tag attached (only Socioboard).

Shutdown Service

"Pull Panda" under "Developer analytics", has been shutdown.
Might want to remove it from the list :)

Consider adding “Spark with Java”

Hello,

Please consider adding “Spark with Java” to your awesome list.

  • Spark with Java - Apache Spark is a very powerful tool for analytics. This new book on Spark, in Manning's Early Access Program (MEAP), offers a very strong focus on Java, targeted towards software and data engineers. The author focuses on developing existing skills rather than learning Spark, Scala, and Hadoop at the same time. You can find the accompanying GitHub repositories here.

Thanks!
