Has there been any change in this? It would be nice to not have to reproduce the entire email preferences page in my website if possible. We would like Pardot to manage the email subscriptions and not have to do it on our site using the API. This would save a lot of time and money.

Email preference center or unsubscribe links generated in Pardot emails have a unique hash tied to specific prospects that isn't accessible via the Pardot API.
The best way to manage list subscriptions through the API is with a prospect update (http://developer.pardot.com/kb/api-version-3/prospects/#updating-email-list-subscriptions) or using listMembership (http://developer.pardot.com/kb/api-version-3/list-memberships/)
