I tried removing the file, retrying, even uninstalling and reinstalling parity.

brew install fails

I previously had parity running without issue, but decided to upgrade to 1.3. I started following the instructions to install rust then build with the Quick install method, but then realized that I could use brew with the --beta flag instead. I stopped that process, and completely uninstalled rustup and cargo, but now am having issues with the brew installation.

I've run brew doctor and addressed all warnings.

Is parity available in CMD + SPACE menu?

Installed parity via installer on a loaner laptop.

Installed parity via brew on my main machine.

I cannot cmd + space to launch parity on my main machine.

brew uninstall --force parity and install via installer.

Is it much trouble to be compatible with cmd + space when using brew?

(or maybe I've completely messed up something, in that case please ignore me)

Default stable vs beta

--beta
    Build and install latest beta (default).
--master
    Build and install nightly version.
--stable
    Install latest stable (default).

So there are 2 defaults. Stable is a default actually. Please fix.

Provide precompiled bottles

It would be great if you could provide precompiled bottles since the compile times are very long.

The homebrew bottle docs explain how it can be done. For taps it's necessary to define the root_url parameter to point to a valid download location.

Support for LinuxBrew

Linuxbrew is a port of homebrew for Linux.
Currently parity on homebrew download the binary for Apple. Is it possible to add a support for Linuxbrew by providing Linux binary if the host is Linux?

OS X GUI and Install

HI, Installer didn't work on Yosemite so I tried the bash command:
bash <(curl https://get.parity.io -Lk)

Things were and are happening (it is syncing i think) but this message appeared:

migrate formulae using .apps to casks."

I can not see Parity in my Applications folder. What to do?
thanks. I'm a parity noob so be gentle

Multirust is no longer maintained, author recommends rustup

Basically the title. But a better option might be to just let homebrew take care of upgrading rust via its rust formula.

Relying on either multirust and rustup would mean that people who have rust managed by homebrew cannot install parity, as it results in a conflict like this:

-> % brew install parity
==> Installing parity from ethcore/ethcore
==> Installing dependencies for ethcore/ethcore/parity: multirust
==> Installing ethcore/ethcore/parity dependency: multirust
Error: Cannot install multirust because conflicting formulae are installed.

  rust: because both install rustc, rustdoc, cargo, rust-lldb, rust-gdb

Please `brew unlink rust` before continuing.

Multirust build takes a loooong time

multirust run stable cargo build --release

This takes a long time to run on my laptop, sometimes a few hours. Does it need to build on every update?

This formula has no `--version=` option

As a user, I want to install a previous version of parity:

$ brew install paritytech/paritytech/parity --version=1.9.5
==> Installing parity from paritytech/paritytech
Warning: paritytech/paritytech/parity: this formula has no --version= option so it will be ignored!
==> Downloading https://d1h4xl4cr1h0mo.cloudfront.net/v1.10.8/x86_64-apple-darwin/parity
###########

how can i check the binary downloaded is not malicious ?

I am using Mac and currently parity seems to only provide the checksum for the parity pkg installer.

If i want to install parity using homebrew instead is there a way i can verify that the downloaded binary is not malicious ?

It would be great if parity could publish the checksum for the payload downloaded by homebew.

thanks!

ICO Tokens stuck on contract

Hello -

I need some help, I got a bit confused with Parity and had created a contract from my Parity Wallet - then the tokens of the ICO that I participated in were sent to the contract Address.

I am the owner / creator of this contract. I need to figure out how I can transfer these tokens from that contract to my actual parity wallet. I have tried for a couple of months and am stuck, I originally did this when I was newer to Crypto Currencies - hence the mistake.

Appreciate any help I can get.

Always tries to upgrade on latest stable release
