alternate-install's Issues

parrot-install.sh

Hi,

could someone please update the script parrot-install.sh? It seems to be outdated quite a bit and it is really off-putting trying to get it to work for a n00b. Paths seem to be outdated, changed those in the /etc/apt/sources.list.d/parrot.list but still no joy.

Came here via the tutorial on https://exploits.run/parrot-wsl/

Would have posted on the forum but since the script really is broken (paths old, --force-yes instead of allow, etc. ) and available on here I thought I'd post here.

Thanks!!

Verbose returns from the script:

forbidden packages

I've been trying to install Parrot through this script, but I always get the same problem. At the point of getting the packages it says is forbidden, but if I open the packages links through my browser I'm able to get them.
I'm running Pop!_Os 19.10, latest version as today 3/16/2020. I have a wired connection to my router and I'm from Argentina.

Example:

Additional MATE packages needed on ARM64/AARCH64 install

Deployed on both Debian Stretch and Ubuntu Bionic on Rock64 and RockPro64 SBCs.

Upon logging in to MATE the menu configuration was incorrect and I was prompted with the following errors:

The panel encountered a problem while loading
"BriskMenuFactory::BriskMenu".

The panel encountered a problem while loading
"MultiLoadAppletFactory::MultiLoadApplet".

The panel encountered a problem while loading
"InhibitAppletFactory::InhibitApplet".

I was able to resolve the menu issues by installing additional MATE packages manually. I installed a bunch but I believe the following are the culprits:

sudo apt install mate-applet-brisk-menu mate-applet-appmenu mate-power-manager*

Did I get them? TY

some issue

before running alternate-install.sh apt-transport-https must be installed.

GPG Public Key is Missing

Installation for me is failing on this line:

wget -qO - https://archive.parrotsec.org/parrot/misc/parrotsec.gpg | apt-key add -

I checked the URL of the key and it returns a 404. What should this be pulling from now? I'm happy to update it and send a pull request, just need to know where to pull from.

'parrot-core' has no installation candidate

Hi, I'm trying to use the alternate installer to get Parrot on WSL, but when I run the script it gives me "E: Package 'parrot-core' has no installation candidate". I'm not quite sure why as I'm fairly certain I've done everything correctly, but I'm also a pretty big Linux noob so I could've. Thanks for any help.
