jessy-lu's Issues

Cumbersome back/forward nav behavior

After browsing the site for a while, it's very cumbersome to navigate by forward/back navigation since every client-side nav is stored in the history stack.

History shouldn't store all client-side navigation. We should only allow back to "home" and forward once to the previously open detail if any. This way, a user can still use back/forward nav on mobile to open/close details without getting trapped in an endless history stack.

Unicode hovering feature

Can we try adding this in?

Also I was also thinking, so when you are in detail view and all the rest are whited out except for when you hover over the thumbnail--could we do the inverse when you are on main? So instead of doing just the solid unicode when you over only the thumbnail you are hovering over has some transparent white out. But the white out also has the unicode on it.

Is that too complicated, I wonder if it'll actually look too busy.

image

Name display on main website

  • change from JESSY LU to jessy lu (all lower case)
  • change to Helvetica Neue Regular with 8% character spacing --> actually let's make this 6%

image

Potential distraction: can we try a local version of the site where the homepage is inverted colors?

  • when you go to the site the landing page is already inverted (everything including name, images etc.)
  • when you hover over an image on main it changes to the correct color
  • when you click on an image it opens detail
  • in detail view all the images stay inverted, except there is a 'film' of black at 50% opacity

ALSO there's an invert button on the main page that changes it back to the exact version that it is now
WITH THE EXCEPTION of instead of unicode during hover it's invert during hover on main page

if this is a complete distraction you don't have to do this !

L and R horizontal margin spacing

Can we try doubling the width margin on the L (between edge of screen and images) and then matching the margin spacing on the right with the detail view? If it gets too squish with the exit X let me know.

Click away from detail view

Currently if you click the X or the name it navigates back to the main page and if you click on one of the thumbnails it changes the project. Is it possible to implement it such that if you click anything that is not either:

  • a thumbnail for a different project
  • the detail image itself

That it goes back to the main view? Like all of the white space?
