design guidance for headers

we need the guidelines to include guidance on how and were to apply headers

e.g. see attached screenshot. The "Preview" is a label right now and looks a little weird in the current design.

need to adjust login page design

@Heargrove , @TDBuck , @PonteIneptique

I am going to need to adjust the login page design a bit. Due to our use of a 3rd party provider, we don't have control over the display of the social identity widget, and for the Institutional Login, the logos come from the providers.

What i'd like to do is move those elements back into the main page, and maybe move the "read more" and "sample publications" links into the sidebar instead.

What do you think?

Link Design

for @Heargrove

  • what color should links be? the same as the color on a simple button? and what colors for hover, visited, etc?

need switch to display document titles

general user feedback is that we need to be able to see all document titles at a glance (maybe it's enough to see all document titles of a specific document type at a glance)

we've discussed this being a quick javacript function we can call to switch between display types, maybe with a cookie to store user pref.

need design guidance for flash notices

I need some guidance on where the app flash notices should display in the new design. I've attached screenshots of some currently notices
We have the following categories of this right now:

error
warning
info

nav on edit bar

@Heargrove @TDBuck

The current edit page has little navigation arrows that allow to navigate between items in your workspace. I have no idea if anyone uses these, or if we care, but they aren't in the current design. Should we keep this functionality, and if so, how should it be represented in the new design?

See screenshot from current interface. I'm talking about the <and > buttons on the right side of the gray bar.

purpose of "overview" in treebank edit page

The design at https://github.com/perseids-project/perseids-design/blob/master/proposals-07-2016/Perseids_Treebank_1.png and as implemented at http://perseids-project.github.io/perseids-design/design/treebank.html has a header of "Overview". I am not sure why that is there. There is an Overview button on the current page, that goes back to the publication overview. Was the move of this to a header intentional? If so, why?

feedback on comments design

I took a stab at applying the design to the comments popups. See screenshots below. Suggestions for improvement welcome.

question on publication overview design

@PonteIneptique and @Heargrove

What do you recommend for the Publication Overview design when there are more than one document in the publication? Are the cards going to be stacked? (I like the idea of stacking, but it's probably not all that user friendly, particularly if there are alot of them)

publication overview -submitted

when a publication has been submitted, we have fewer options. need to revisit design of this page.

Also, some buttons, such as "Withdraw from Editorial Review" exceed the size currently set as the max. Shall I just extend the size on a per-button basis in that case?
