movement-2d-test's Issues

Known Issues

  • Player bounds are not correct (level bounding box does not match player sprite size)
  • Gaps / Lines are sometimes visible between columns of tiles (rendering issue? possibly due to floating points in tile positions??)
  • Do not understand how the dx and dy limits are calculated to enforce camera bounding (delY lower limit does not make sense)
  • The conflict between row,col coordinate convention for tile images and X,Y for point objects is very annoying; switch to one convention (swap all row,col conventions to col, row for consistency with X,Y conventions)
  • Will probably move on to the next prototype from here. This was a good first test of Monogame. 10/13/2023

Next steps:

  • make something that is not ugly AF
  • add damping to the camera movement
  • check out Tiled as a level editor and monogame extended for interfacing with Tiled
  • add player movement animations
  • experiment with parallax
  • try velocity based movement system instead of position based
  • learn how to do collisions
