I'd like to add a "me too" here. I have the same problem as above (IE/Chrome recognizes switching networks, OGCS doesn't). For me, it is even enough to go to settings and switch to "no proxy" and back to "Inherit from Internet Explorer" and clock "Save". If I then switch to the "Sync" tab and "Start Sync", it works again.
Hence I also guess that it might be enough that OGCS checks the current IE settings prior to each sync.

I cannot reproduce this issue. Testing v2.8.1:-

  1. Set OGCS to inherit proxy settings from IE
  2. Set a valid proxy in IE and trigger a sync with OGCS, it completes successfully
  3. Change to an invalid proxy, OGCS sync fails.
  4. Set back to a valid proxy, OGCS syncs successfully again.

I've even set up a .pac file with bad config to made it break IE, then fix the .pac file so IE works - all the while OGCS follows the changes.

Does this issue still exist or can it be closed?

I have the same issue in 2.8.0.0. Whenever I connect/disconnect to/from my company's VPN, the sync stops working.

I have 2 workarounds:

  1. Go to Settings and toggle the Proxy Setting from "Inherit from Internet Explorer" to "No proxy" and then back to "Inherit from Internet Explorer"
  2. Restart OGCS

My guess is that reading the Internet Explorer proxy before every sync would fix this issue.

@tiagojufr What might also fix the issue is your upgrading to at least v2.8.1 (the version I previously said I was testing on), or better v2.8.2 which is currently the latest alpha release and also included some work around proxy management.

I only support the latest alpha release - let me know if you still have the same problem on that...

@phw198 tried with 2.8.2.0 and I still have the issue. Adding some details:

  1. I use OGCS on my company's laptop that only has Internet acess when connected to a VPN
  2. At the end of the day, I hibernate Windows
  3. When I turn on the PC the next day, the VPN is disconnected because of a timeout, so OGCS will try to sync (because I have scheduled syncs every hour) and will fail
  4. I reconnect to the VPN
  5. OGCS keeps failing
  6. I go to settings and set proxy to "No proxy" and back to "Inherit from Internet Explorer"
  7. I get back to the Sync tab, click on Start Sync and it works

I know this is not easy for you to try to reproduce but it may help you find the issue. Let me know if you need more info.
