No success on Pi 1 B+

For me this Stretch version NOOBS works well on my Pi2 B+ but fails on the P1 B+.
At startup it gives various error messages that have to do with the USB dongle for the keyboard or refer to the USB mouse. The NOOBS screen is then displayed but the Pi does not respond to keyboard or mouse input anymore.

format.json invalid

I am very sorry to disturb here, but the best work is nothing worth when nobody tests it. ;-)

The download and unzip is working well, but something with the scripts is buggy.
It isn't possible to install only an operating system without a data partition (the install-icon stays grey), and when an installation with data is chosen, it ends unsuccessfully with an error.

Best regards from Switzerland

Boot problems with RasPi 2B+, now fixed

I downloaded the zip-file from github, extracted and copied it to the SD-card, and nothing happened, not even an error!
To prevent that this could be a hardware-failure, I downloaded and extracted the NOOBS-file, and this worked (on the SD. not on the SSD).
I am only an experienced user and not a programmer, but I have the intention that the minimalistic hardware and firmware from the RasPi 2B+ is not able to search executable files in the depth of the file system.
So I copied only the files of the folder "latest" (and its subfolders) from the pidrive-cfe-20190804 to the SD, and it worked perfectly.

This is my workaround, perhaps it helps other people.

Best regards
Christopher

Dedicated hard disk

Wether a dedicated hard disk is needed or can I test this software with 1 (or 2) partition on a HDD that contains data already? Eventually what format would be required? FAT32 or EXT4?

Update artwork

Slides and other artwork need to be updated to reflect Raspberry Pi OS as the replacement for Raspbian.

USB-BOOT ?

Hello i'm french so sorry for m'y Bad english.

Customised source?

In the README.md you state this "is a customized version of the NOOBS sofware".
Has the NOOBS source code actually customised the , or is it just Project Space OSes that have been added?

Future Roadmap

Maintaining this project is pretty time intensive for the size and scope of the projects. The individual project spaces must be downloaded and rebuilt with every update and the entire project has to be updated when NOOBS is updated. The size of the repository is also growing because of the OS images that are contained in it. Because of these reasons, I'm considering a change to the repository and instead maintaining a build script that can be run to generate a current version of the project any time you wish. Pre-built releases will still be provided from time-to-time.

This would also allow for more flexibility. Users could customize their own build. For instance, you might prefer to use PINN as a base instead of NOOBS. Or you may wish to add more OSes such as Alpine or Balena Cloud, or ...insert your favorite RPi image here...

I'd like to hear your thoughts and suggestions on this.

I'm also going to be developing the Wiki. Mainly I plan on including instructions for building the project manually and creating NOOBS-compatible images from your favorite distro.

Pi does not start

Hello,

I have download and unzipped the archive on my FAT 32 formatted SD card, however when I start the raspberry pi, nothing happens, screen stays black and it does not connect to my router so I can't do anything with putty either.

I noticed that the original SD car I received with the pidrive has several partitions and the file structure is not exactly the same as the archive I downloaded from this project.

I have a rapsberry pi 3.

Am I missing something ? Do I also need several partitions and to change a bit the folder of this archive ?

Thank you so much for your work!

Rom
