9.2 downgrade can cause a softbrick in some rare situations

All variations of sysUpdater, not just sysDowngrader, have a very small chance of causing a "soft brick" once the downgrade is complete and the device reboots. This will cause the system to boot directly to the Nintendo error screen instructing users to power off the device.

The reason for this is unknown, but can be prevented by performing a system format before downgrading. It seems to happen more often on systems with ambassador status or who have DSiWare installed.

Once this error happens, it can only be fixed by using safe mode (A + R + L + Up on the D-Pad) to update to the latest system version.

As of the time this is written, the latest version (11.0.0) has completely blocked all software downgrading, and if someone encounters this error they will be locked out of any further downgrading unless they use a hardmod exploit.

Do you mean to have this share a TitleID with profi200's original sysUpdater?

Currently both of these are using 0x0F0007 as their unique ID, is that intentional or an oversight?

Too many files error downgrading JP N3DS to 9.2.0

I tried running sysDowngrader on my Japanese N3DS running 9.9.0-26J in order to downgrade to 9.2.0-20J using the guide's 9.2.0-20J(Full)_n3DS.zip, but I get this error message:

sysDowngrader should say "system halted" when it halts.

If sysDowngrader halts the system due to an error (the catch handlers setting once = true), it should print a message that the system has been halted and to turn the system off.

homebrew stopped working

Hi guys,
I successfully downgraded my 3ds to version 9.2, but now my homebrew isn't launching anymore... Any leads? I want to install A9LH.

Hello, I am on an Old 3DS XL, but I don't want to update to 11.3 as I know it's a problem for some homebrew and A9LH users. I have a 10.3 update pack. Can I update my 3DS with it? Sorry for being a noob.

It seems there is more problems with hash, this time with the 9.1.0-20J update pack for japanese n3ds

Sysdowngrader shows the message "Too few titles in /updates/ found!" and refuses to downgrade the system, downgrading with the same pack with plaisysupdater works.

Sysdowngrader 9.7.0-25j problem

Hi.. i got a question.
At sysdowngrader step.. at the end it suppose to downgrade from my original (9.7.0-25j) to 9.2.0-20j..
But after i done and i check at setting (3ds home menu) is writen my version is 9.1.0-20j..
Is it i do wrong step? Or is it normal after downgrade?
Or should i just continue the process?
I afraid if wrong ver. After downgrade will cause brick..

Using this to update from 11.5 to 11.6 (regular update doesn't work for whatever reason), tried with files from original and new 3DNUS, gives an error:
titleException: main.cpp:209: Result: 0x0 Did not find known firmware files!
What should I do?

homebrew launching

I used my game pokemon sapphire to transfer my homebrew on my new3ds. (basehax)
Now that I am on version 9.2.0 though, my homebrew isnt launching from pokemon anymore. So I used this guide to be able to use it again https://3ds.guide/homebrew-launcher-(browser) , but after the process when I try to start up homebrew while booting my n3ds, the top screen just becomes grey and the bottom stays black. Like it wants to start but doesnt. Any lead ?

So I am going through your guide and I am using sysDowngrader. Whenever I enter and choose downgrade, it just says

I downloaded the zip, but I see no ''update'' file.... I still tried to downgrade and it says the update file is missing... what is wrong? thx for helping me out..

[Enhancement]sysDowngrader should remove Menuhax

If the user used MenuHax, this will always result in a black screen after the downgrade (due to Menuhax not being set up for the correct version). Imo, sysDowngrader should auto-remove the relevant files from the SD after finishing the downgrade.

It doesn't do checks if you're using the wrong region unlike PlaiSysupdater

As stated above, it doesn't do checks/error out when flashing the wrong region. As far as I remember, when I used PlaiSysupdater, I kept getting a nintendo error after a couple of validations. It turns out that I am using the wrong region, so when i replaced the update files to the correct one, it went thru with the downgrade. I almost thought I bricked my new device when I flashed a 9.2 US console on my EUR console. It doesn't boot up, only blue led and that's it. Good thing recovery mode works so I update to the latest firmware. Good thing I have a spare CFW'ed EUR console to dsiwarehaxx downgrade.

Wrong error when trying O3DS 9.2.0 pack on N3DS

If you try to downgrade to Old 3DS 9.2.0 on a New 3DS, it correctly fails, but gives you the wrong error message.

SysDowngrader says wrong file?

Hey up everybody.

So i tryed to use the "new" Version boot get prompted wirh the following message:

So am i supposed to use the old version?

The update files are definitly right.

Hi,

Can someone please help me? I have a N3DS USA and I was on 10.3-28U (I think 28U not sure). I followed the guide and when I used the sysdowngrader to 9.2.0 I received an error "error: titleException: title.cpp: 126: Result: 0xC920181A

Now the 3DS blue light goes on but the screens are black/off and after a few seconds the blue led goes off. I tried to do step 10 and tried without the sd card and tried removing the battery for a few seconds.

Does anyone have any suggestions or alternatives to fix this? I can't seem to find this error code anywhere either :(

When trying to downgrade to 9.2.0 from 9.9.0 using sysUpdater instead of PlaiSysUpdater (which worked fine) I'm encountering a "Too many titles in /updates/ found!" error. Looking through a few reddit posts about the guide being updated it seems I am not alone in this regard. The checksum is correct fwiw.

I'm getting the above error when trying to downgrade N3DS 10.7.0-32U to 9.2.0-20U.

I'm using sysDowngrader 1.0.3.

I've seen similar issues reported for J and E versions related to the hash map in sysDowngrader. Could this be the same issue?

Problem to downgrade a hardmodded console

Hello,

The problem appear on a hardmodded console, (injecting the NATIV FIRM 10.4)

It's impossible to start the dowgrade to 9.2.0. This message appears "Did not get am:u handle !"
The HBL is started by browserhax or menuhax.

The most recently Starter pack has been used and the format of console tryed

Cannot Get AM:U handle

went from 11.1 to 10.4 with Field Runners downgrade. Everything passed in the 3DResident Check. I enter the HBL from OoT. When running sysDowngrader, it hangs on the AM:U handle check. I've tried this 50+ times. I entered HBL with Mario Sticker Star but had the same effect

SysDowngrader deleted the first CIA, then, "File not found"

I've done A9LH on four 3DS's using Plailect's guide, three New 3DS and one Old 3DS, but in the 4th N3DS, I don't know why SysDowngrader failed, it made the hash checks successfully, but then, when the downgrade process started, as you now, first, it uninstall the system title and then install the CIA from the updates folder, but in the first CIA (I think it's mset) failed with a "File not found" error, it stuck, so First I pressed back trying to get HB launcher, got red screen and then black screen, nothing more, so I shut down the 3DS holding power button and now always I try to boot it up I get "An error has occurred..." Error. I can't access neither recovery nor touch calibration.

Downgrading Problem

hey Im try to downgrade from 11.2 to 9.2.
When Im in hbl and try launching it that happens:
I Launch it, press y, the sysdowngrader crashes to hbl.
