asset-time-machine-app's Issues

Draft Simple Dash App

Here is an issue we can use to track progress and conversation surrounding the 1st draft of the Dash App. Once we have the data wrangled, the all-time-high algorithm locked down, and a visualization ready to go, we'll want to start probably with a one-callback dash app that runs decently fast. We can then of course moving on to more callbacks, deeper interactivity, etc., but for that we can open a separate issue and build towards a different milestone.

Complete 1st Draft of Main Viz

Starting thread for all things related to the first draft of the main chart to be shown in the eventual app. Screenshot below (and at the top of the README) of the present iteration of the viz. Below are a few thoughts I have on what needs to be improved from the status quo:

  • play around with colors, alpha, size, etc., to be sure it can scale and be visually appealing
  • ponder if this is the right mark type?
  • ponder integrating volume in some way?
  • not necessary for first draft, but think of how to store the users selected point for potential use elsewhere in the eventual dash app

@zachvac -- if you have any thoughts or questions on the viz. feel free to document them here as well

Speeding up local all-time-high calculations

Starting a thread for all things related to the speeding up of local ATH calcs.

@zachvac -- you and I already discussed this, but I spent some time to build out a copy of milestones and thought this would be a good test case for some issue tracking so we can make full use of Git's features.

I'll assign this issue to you and add all the requisite labels, etc.

I put in a lot of extra stuff since you last looked at the explore.ipynb, so just for reference the cell that really needs a lot of tlc is cell 5 (screenshotted below) but of course feel free to expand beyond that.

Environment creation and management

Starting this issue to migrate conversation about environment-related issues. @ndrewGele -- deleting your comment over in the main app dev issue thread and pasting it below because I think it merits a full thread.

From @ndrewGele

"Having trouble setting up the environment based on the yaml. Here's a thread with the same issue I'm having: ContinuumIO/anaconda-issues#9480
It looks like part of the solution is to specify --no-builds when you create the yaml (not sure if you did this or not already)."
