2020-uzh-installation-guide's Issues

Homebrew installion

Screen Shot 2021-08-12 at 5 40 39 PM

It took me several times to install homebrew--even when I used the command from the website rather than the one you listed.
(There was something about me needing admin priviledges and sudo, but it worked when the IT did it.)
However when I run brew doctor, it still shows the above.

When I try to upgrade brew, I get an error message when it tries to update macosvpn.

I don't know if my computer is just weird or if this is a mac issues or if this is a UZH computer issue? (Admittedly I haven't tried to debug the error messages yet.)

Copy and paste in terminal

OLD:

!!! tip "Windows Users: Copy and Paste" The 'tradtional' Ctrl + C and Ctrl + v doesn't work with you terminal. To save manually writing stuff in, highlight the text with you cursor, and then in the terminal use your mouses right-click to paste it in.

NEW:

!!! tip "When using a terminal, the 'traditional' copy and paste commands Ctrl + C and Ctrl + v as Ctrl + Key commands have a special meaning. Copy is instead Ctrl + Shift + C and paste is Ctrl + Shift + V. Alternatively, you can always right-click and select Copy or Paste.

Check Chromedriver expected version

The installation guide seems to refer to chromedriver version 2.41 in the download url and in accordance with this chromedriver --version returns ChromeDriver 2.41.578700 (2f1ed5f9343c13f73144538f15c00b370eda6706)

However the installation guide says the expected output is ChromeDriver 79.0.3945.36 .....

Please confirm this is not a typo.

GPG keys for R

on WSL we need to add these

the second option on cran seems to be the best way, the first gives an error about dirmgrs

Separate R and RStudio

As discussed, please separate R and RStudio to make the structure easier to understand.

For the necessary plugins: If I need more, we install them in class.
