Auto Sub Sync is an automatic subtitle synchronization tool. It recognizes the words spoken in the audio track using speech recognition, and try to synchronize the existing erroneous subtitle track with the audio track.
The application is yet build for linux only. The VLC module and the supporting scripts and binaries should be changed and build for windows separately to run this on windows.
The VLC extension doesn't check whether the subtitle file for the media is actually available. It always assumes that the media file currently playing has a subtitle file at the same path with same name and with the extension of ".srt". Unavailability of subtitle file in synchronization will lead the extension (and may be the VLC player too) crash.
