mailing list mode is not completely disabled

fcd9b03 removed the checkbox but left all the explanation text, so it's unclear how to enable it. The entire " Mailing List Settings" block should probably be removed.

Or probably an upstream commit to add a mailing_list_enabled? method in config/application.rb that toggles this so it can just be turned off properly.

Redirect loop

Invitation requests returns 500

Hi,

I would like to report a bug when trying to request an invitation:

Steps

1. Go to https://barnacl.es/invitations/request
2. Enter:
   • Name: User for 500
   • Email: [email protected]
   • URL: http://github.com/pushcx
3. Click on the "Request Invitation" button

Result

The user ends up on a blank page with the URL https://barnacl.es/invitations/create_by_request

Opening the web tools shows a 500 response:

Open Invitation - how did you do it?

Hey @pushcx & @jcs - thanks to you both for Lobste.rs & Barnacl.es.

@pushcx - I'm trying to figure out how you got around the "invite-only" mode of adding users to Lobste.rs (see pic below)

I think I pinned it down to this commit -
Allow direct signup; 'git revert' when done - d26d02c

My questions:

• Is this commit the only changes you remember making to create the "direct signup" function?
• Was there something to the 'git revert' when done portion of the commit comment that you can remember? Couldn't really follow that part. Wasn't sure if I was missing something.
