I'm actually working with a Team of researchers and enthusiasts based out of Kolkata, WB and we would like to translate the Qiskit Documentation to Bengali
@thecrazyphysicist369 will be Translation Lead/ Proofreader/ Translator for this endeavour.
We talked with Brian Ingmanson and Yuri Kobayashi. Yuri mentioned that there was another team interested ( #147 ). Currently, we have 6 members in our Team consisting of @mojutijatir (Quantum Computing Research Fellow at ISI, Kolkata), @thecrazyphysicist369 , @JanapriyoJp, @Aniket049, myself and @aishwarya25252. We have created a Github Org Qiskit-Bangla for the existing team and for others who are fluent in Bengali and have a knack for Quantum Computing and Qiskit to collaborate on. We are open to collaborating with others who are interested to help (#147).
Did you find a doc bug or broken link that needs to be fixed?
What is the file name(s) where you found the bug?
None. Requesting translation addition for Spanish.
What is the current text that needs to be fixed or removed? (You can copy and paste)
No fixes rather requesting translation addition for Spanish.
What should the documentation say instead?
Should expand to Spanish.
Are there other related issues or pull requests about this bug?
No.
Does existing documentation need to be updated with new content?
Which files need to be updated?
All files for translation as defined by Crowdin.
What content needs to be updated or replaced? (You can copy and paste)
All files for translation as defined by Crowdin
What new content needs to be added?
Spanish language content for Spanish speakers. This can be the basis for other Spanish derivatives like Castillian or further language particularizations.
Would it be possible to add the link to the translation staging website to the repo's README.md file?
I think the link is only available to translators via the Slack channel, making it difficult for new people to find. I think we would all benefit from having it somewhere where it is readily available with perhaps a short explanation of what what the "staging site" is for (help translators see the content in its final form), and how often it gets updated.
Hindi is the 3rd most spoken language in the world with more than 615 million speakers worldwide, as per newsonair. It is also the National language of India.
I'd like to be a Translator for the Hindi Language.
I understand that to start the process for a new language, we will require at least 3 contributors and proof-readers. We have students willing to volunteer for the same from the QPower Quantum community.
We want to translate the Qiskit textbook and documentation to Hindi. (Hindi is the lingua franca for over 500 million people and there is a huge growing interest in Quantum among Indian Students. We observed some students already working on Qiskit but we are aiming for better outreach via India Quantum Challenge, Professor Collaborations and several other mediums.)
I'd like to be a HINDI_Translation Lead. I am a native Hindi speaker and I am the lead researcher for Watson NLP stack extension to Hindi. I have Quantum theory knowledge and Qiskit understanding. I am taking the Qiskit Advocate test and also lined up for my Quantum Ambassador training in September
I have a team of people in IBM Research India and some from IBM India (Systems and Quantum Computing COC) with whom we are trying to create the India Ecosystem. There are 4 Q-Ambassadors out of which one will be the proofreader and others will join for translation like me.
I'd like to be a Translation Lead/ Proofreader/ Translator
The language that I'd like to request is Bengali. I'd like to be a translation lead for Bengali. We already got at least 3 members - Amitava Chakraborty, Diptiman Dasgupta and myself Abhijit Mitra who are all fluent in Bengali and ready to be part of this project.
Bengali is the 5th most spoken language in the world spoken by 228 million people. Among the speakers almost two thirds are in the country of Bangladesh and they do a lot of their study in Bengali itself but overall the community has interest in science and Quantum area both in the Bengali speaking part of India (Kolkata) and Bangladesh (Dhaka).
I am a Qiskit Advocate and would like to be part of translating Qiskit Texbook in Tamil Language.
I would like to take the role of Translation Lead.
Requesting all those who are interested in my community to join as well.
I have checked the Translation Lead table from the readme file and the LOCALIZATION_CONTRIBUTORS file and they have incorrectly set a contributor.
One of the Translation Lead of the Spanish Language is not Antonio Acuaviva Huertos but Arturo Acuaviva Huertos. Antonio Acuaviva Huertos is a translator from the Spanish-Spain (ES) group.
On the other hand, on the LOCALIZATION_CONTRIBUTORS looks like the name of Arturo Acuaviva Huertos appears just on the Spanish-Mexico (ES-ME) but actually it should appear on both the Spanish-Mexico (ES-ME) and Spanish-Spain (ES).
I am leaving IBM today, and I plan to continue as part of this team for the Qiskit docs translation to Spanish, but a new leader will be required for the team.
This week I joined the translation group of the Spanish Mexico language. I found out that though both Spaniards and Mexicans speak Spanish, we speak it differently. To get a more precise documentation I want to create a new group for the Spanish, Spain language.
I have talked with some other people. They are willing to join me to create a new translation group.
There are so many developers in China. I'd like to call for translating the documents into Chinese to make more Chinese quantum developers easily access the achievement made by IBM in this field. I found there are so many researchers and students around me want to use the Qiskit, but most of them are not good at English.
I have already done some translations for a small piece of the documents with the following link:
A lot of researchers and students around me really like it. So I request for translating the useful documents into Chinese if possible.
Add information about setup.py in this repository.
This will be getting synced by poBranch update job from qiskit/qiskit correct and is needed for the custom sphinx plugins to pull the per element docs and build the release versions table. Otherwise having a copy like this is a bit strange. In theory we could get away with just having the requirements list in a file, but then we'd have to rework the sphinx plugins in qiskit/qiskit which is more effort than it's worth.
I would probably add a note to the README about this not actually being a python package and the setup.py is only in the repo as a requirement for building docs. If people want to install they should use qiskit/qiskit.
Hi! I am from Burma and I am currently studying in America. I was wondering whether translating Qiskit into Burmese would be a good idea to introduce quantum computing into Burma. What do the rest of the GitHub community think ?
I'd like to start a Hausa translation for this project. I know that we'll need two more to join, along with a proofreader, but I'd be able to be translation lead.
Summary
The language that I'd like to request is Arabic.
I'd like to be a Translation Lead.
Arabic is spoken by 422 million speakers
Good no. of people in technology industry.
Official Language of 25 countries.
For a better reach out i think it would be great to add the links to the respective github profile of our Translation Leads. This will make easier for newcommers to reach them out for general questions, review requests or any other volunteer tasks.
I am a qiskit advocate and would like to start contributing from the documentation. I would like to be a translation lead for my main role (translation experience), but at the same time I also want to perform as Translators and Proofreaders.
I already pull requested to add myself to the LOCALIZATION_CONTRIBUTOR
Quantum information is a subject that is found in English language literature more often than in Portuguese literature.
We in Brazil, and also from Portugal, want good references in Portuguese to educate people who are interested in learning more about quantum information.
Some terms, such as Gate, are translated incorrectly by translators. In addition, at universities, we learn terms like Gates in Portuguese. Moreover, today's translators misread these academic terms and made it harder to make analogy and idioms. Furthermore, for an initial learning, it becomes even more difficult to absorb knowledge. Finally, Qiskit does not have a Portuguese version.
I myself have been studying Qiskit in English for a year now. Imagine who has no experience in the subject?
I would like to propose a Portuguese translation of some sections and engage more portuguese learners and educators to help us with translation. For example:
The simplest quantum gates are the Paulis:
X , Y and Z. Their action is to perform a half rotation of the Bloch sphere around the x, y and z axes. They therefore have effects similar to the classical NOT gate or bit-flip. Specifically, the action of the X gate on the states |0⟩ and |1⟩ is X|0⟩=|1⟩,X|1⟩=|0⟩."
Portuguese version:
"Operadores Pauli
Os operadores quânticos mais simples são as de Paulis: X, Y e Z.
Sua ação é realizar uma meia rotação da esfera Bloch em torno dos eixos x, y e z. Eles, portanto, têm efeitos semelhantes a porta clássica NOT ou bit-flip. Especificamente, a ação da porta X nos estados | 0 ⟩ e | 1 ⟩ é X|0⟩=|1⟩,X|1⟩=|0⟩."
