4axisfoamcutter's Issues

Hot wire

Hi Keith,

I have build the machine using your video with arduino mega2560, ramps board. I am also using grbl5. Unfortunately my hotwire does not get hot. I am setting temp 12V in the software output from d8 which is perfectly works i can read the 12v output with multimeter.

Here is my wire specs:
90 cm length,
30 GA( 0.25 mm diameter) nichrome
27 ohms measured for the given length and diameter

With this specs (12 = 27. I) I get 0.44 amps which is not even warming the wire. Can you tell me how much current do i need ?

Damaged driver

Hello,

First of all thanks for the great job this software worked from start without to much hassel.

My problem:
I don't use a arduino mega2560 board + Ramps v1.4 but a MKS BASE V1.6, wich is compatible with the Ramps1.4 and is a all in one solution (cheap).
Form start I just downloaded the sketch loaded it to my board and it was done!!

By stupid mistake I damaged one of the oneboard drivers.
I hook the motors up like explained here.
X = E0
Y = E1
U (t-axis) = Y
Z = Z
I broke the u-axis (y) driver, but I still got the original driver for X-Axis not used.
I've been trying to understand, wich pins to set up to "connect" the u-axis to the physical x-axis.
I found this in pin_Map.H

Now I'm trying to understand the pinout of the mega2560 board (shield connector) and the corresponding pinout of the ramps1.4 board.

That's where I'm lost.
Can somebody tell me what value I should use for #define T_STEP_BIT and
#define T_DIRECTION_BIT? so that the T-AXIS would be connected to the physical X-AXIS driver.

And meaby some explaination about these values so I can understand better.
I want to hook up some 3-wire endstops to my machine so if I can figure it out my self I feel happy.

Thanks in advance

Soft Limit Switch (#20) is not working.

I have followed rckeith tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T2yhzRf1N0w for endswitches. My machine works perfectly(only tried manual controls not g-code yet). My switches also works when pressed( becomes ticked) however while #20 set to 1(soft switch) when press any move button(x,y,u,z) it does not move and pops an error about JITdebugging i guess. and after that when i click continue for example x+ moves but does not change the distance of x and does not go backward after a certain distance. And sometimes nothing moves not even 1 direction. Anything to help me ?

Great Work

Hi Rahul
Thanks for the mentions in the read me. This is an awesome project. I'm going to convert over to Arduino just ordered the parts. How has it been working since you made it any issues.

Grbl Hotwire controller by Daniel Rascio

Thank you @rahulsarchive for your effort.
You mentioned "Grbl Hotwire controller" that was adopted by Daniel Rascio but I cannot find link to download it.
Can you give me more information where I can find this software?

Cheers :)

parametrics and extra square?

Hi
Wondering if you have the parametric development file for this?

I might have to copy/ remake it in rhino grasshopper (my favourite) Grasshopper parametrics are a joy
Considering making a version in a thinner material
A local tech with a laser cutter only does up to 9mm mdf ... So I'd have to adjust all the slots
And the cutter bed is only 600mm long So I may have to adjust the base plate

Also
The component On the bottom right hand side of the .3dm file
Does that have an extra square outline shape in the middle which isn't meant to be cut out?
Thanks
