Testing functions that contain System.halt

I know this is taking testing to ridiculous extremes for this app, but the point is to learn a way of doing things...
Is there a way of stubbing out System.halt in Quoil.CLI.terminate_early? only for the tests, without inserting conditional code into the actual function that checks for the mix environment variable? (I want to keep the actual function cleaner, without introducing testing-only code into the function itself)

Repeater functionality

Is there a better way of doing this? In particular:

• is there a way to have this run separate from a particular shell session, so that if I initiate it by remoting into a machine via SSH, I can leave it to run without having to maintain the shell connection?
• Maybe there already is a scheduler framework for Elixir?
• Should I just use the system scheduler mechanism, at the cost of being less portable between linux and mac?
