interesting, it doesn't even look like we are referencing that hide field in our backend at all - do you know what the defined behavior is meant to be if the hide is set to true?

What is doubly interesting is that this used to work some time ago :-) The idea is to hide whatever data for a query from the panel itself. This is usually done so that the user can get data, combine it with other data or modify it, and only display the end result of whatever queries are used.
