drivey's Issues

Car sounds.

Maybe a little abstract too. One of the early Drivey demos had sound. Would be great to have the option to have sound again. Maybe Kraftwerk Autobahn inspired.... Maybe just a gentle engine sound. Maybe something else.

Ambient Sound

One of the early Drivey demos had sound. Would be great to have the option to have sound again. Maybe Kraftwerk Autobahn inspired.... Maybe just a gentle engine sound. Maybe something else.

Would love there to be an option to have ambient sound. Even if abstract, but off the top of my head, wind sound (as if you're in a really smooth car), rain, sea, white-noise. ASMR stuff perhaps.

Accessibility options via a button

From Barrie Ellis on Twitter:

For one-switch play, if someone needs access to the menus, they seem easy enough to use with a mouse emulator - so not to worry there. If there was a one-switch drive mode, where you could click on a large target / the whole screen to steer left / right alternatively that would be lovely.

For eye gaze, if it could be controlled using the mouse pointer (position on the left side of the screen for left and vice versa for right, with a big dead zone in the middle... That would be great.

Sounds would aid understanding for some. Being able to turn off SFX from music / ambient sounds really handy.

Keyboard control over menus would be great too. Essential for blind players. But anything would be really appreciated.

Current game plan: a "Control Mode" button, added to the button set, that switches between "classic", "one switch" and "eye gaze". "one switch" would map a single click and double click on the whole screen to steering left and right; "eye gaze" would map mouse position in regions near the screen's edge to steering left and right.

Also, if sounds are added, then an "Audio Mode" button would switch between no audio, sound effects, and an audio accessibility feature, if there is such a thing.

Off-line version

For people with bad internet connection, it would be great to have an off-line version. Perfect for shows too.

Auto-Drive speed control.

It would be fantastic if the auto-drive and manual drive top speed could be adjusted by the user, from fast to a crawl.

Reasons?

  1. A mellower driving experience.
  2. A less hectic screen-saver/kinetic display.
  3. Improved accessibility.

Collision detection

Love the updates with on-line Drivey and the new environments. I did much prefer the original Drivey traffic though to look at, especially the night-time lights on the cars.

Optional collision detect would be lovely too.

Make adjustments to one switch and eye gaze controls

Really enjoying the new additions. However, I do find the adjustment in speed, and also swapping side of the road is now too gradual. When I change the speed from fastest to slowest, I'm not sure if it's doing anything for a while.

I also much preferred the more rapid lane changing when swapping from left to right-side drive. If you turn the dash off, that's a really nice one-switch method of driving for those with much less accurate control. It now feels much less responsive. Not such a strong cause and effect response.
