Use square icons with the mask

Hello, would it be possible to use no mask when the icon is square? I want to apply the round icon effect to an iOS Theme and it would be nice to have that feature. (when using a local square icon it isn't rounded, rather fit and set with a white background)

Apply ICNS Icon Directly Without Scaling

When the input file is ICNS, iconsur still attempts to apply the background and mask. Can we have an option for applying ICNS icon directly without any edits?

This is the same as copy/paste to the get info window but I would like to include all commands in a single shell script

I don't know when this issue started, but it first occurred for me the other day when I updated my icons: sudo iconsur set /Applications/Kindle.app results in the Kindle app having the iBook icon.

White icon background

This seems interesting, but I’d like to know if there’s any way to get an icon background other than white when an App Store icon cannot be found.

New version of fileicon needed for iconsur to work in macOS 12.3

Hi

I am testing the macOS 12.3 beta, and iconsur stopped working there as a consequence of Python 2 being removed, which made fileicon stop working.

I managed to make it work again for myself by simply updating the version of fileicon that is used from https://github.com/mklement0/fileicon and that fixed it, as it does not depend on Python 2 anymore, so I would suggest doing that as a fix.

Use macosicons.com Icon with IconSur

Hello,
Whenever I try to apply an icon from macosicons.com with IconSur, it adds a white background around it. Is there a way to use the icon unmodified?

They have a bunch of icons, so maybe make a command to set the icon source to this repo instead?

Setting icons makes the System unresponsive

Hi!
first of thanks for the handy script, yesterday I download the iconsur then added my PATH from the downloads folder then I proceed with changing app icons most of them I generated the icon from the local asset using -l.
only 2 apps add problems:

Karabiner-Element & Karabiner-EventViewer saying that I had no write access while using sudo of course
Slidepad after generating the icons then unset it, when I try to set again I was getting a corrupt file like error

Sorry that I can add the error as I just got working again to try to reproduce it again

I am not entirely sure if iconsur is the culprit since after reboot before the system becomes unresponsive again I managed to see the crash report and it related to SMC but event after resetting the SMC several times the problem still persist event in safe mode the computer was a bit slow with high CPU usage

After unsetting all the icons in safe mode then a reboot everything is back to normal

I would to not that sudo iconsur cache does not work for me, I get the errors below

Arkham & Tomb Raider are symlinks but drive in there is not connected

so I get not being apple to cache is the reason why I experiencing this
I will try to move the apps but remain the folder in /private/...

I really like iconsur, so much easier to set icons than drag and drop plus generating icons on the fly is also great

In some cases, you already have a proper Big Sur Icon, e.g. from this wonderful website, and you just want to set your apps in a batch. -i can be used for a local file, however the image is still processed. In some cases, this is not necessary at all.

Cannot build on Apple Silicon mac?

It's very strange that the lastest release file can run very well on my M1 sillion Mac a few days ago, but it crashes today after I restart. Then I do the chmod+x line but still useless.

By the way I've noticed that the release is named "x64", but how can it run well at first?

Idk what triggered it, but starting yesterday I can't set the icon for any apps, whenever I try running Iconsur it just throws an error, I believe it has something to do with python

When there is an iOS icon available, they seem about 10% too small next to stock Big Sur icons. Using the -s flag to scale them to 1.1 or 1.2 does not work. Firefox is a good example of this.

Hi, I'm trying to update the WhatsApp icon on my mac and it throws an error saying I don't have permissions. I guess that this is because it is downloaded from the AppStore. Any idea on how to fix this?
