It doesn't. The plugin does a scan of your function definitions to see if there are eventBridge events present. To support this we would have to scan for stepFunctions that have eventBridge event configured. I can however image this will become quite complex since we fire functions when needed and should therefore also check the states of the stepFunctions to see if we should fire other functions (and in which order).
